On Wednesday, 12/17/25, around 1339 hrs, I received an alert from the school alert system of an issue occurring near room 717.

While arriving in the area on the 700 hall, I observed a large gathering of students migrating towards the incident location. Once I got closer, I observed Deputy Alexander attempting to get a student under control and detained. I assisted Deputy Alexander with the student, who was later identified as Melissa Rayam.

While attempting to detain Ms Rayam to identify what occurred, she began to physically resist me and Deputy Alexander by refusing to put her hands behind her back and attempting to walk away multiple times. Deputy Alexander later informed me she was pushed by Ms Rayam while she was trying to detain her. Ms Rayam was eventually placed in handcuffs and brought into my office to determine what occurred.

Upon observing video footage of the incident, I observed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and an acquaintance of hers, [VICTIM #1], walking through the hall. I then observed Ms Rayam walking behind them. When Ms [VICTIM #1] turned around to go into class, she was met by Ms Rayam, who pushed her into the classroom. Once Ms [VICTIM #1] was pushed into the classroom, she exited and approached Ms. Rayam while taking her bookbag off.

I then observe both parties grab each other and push back and forth. During the pushing and holding onto each other, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] returned to try to break up the fight by holding both of them apart, with no success. While Ms Rayam was trying to engage with Ms [VICTIM #1], she raised her fist as if she was going to punch Ms [VICTIM #1], but did not.

Ms [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] walked away shortly after and were quickly followed by Ms Rayam. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] attempted to push Ms Rayam back into a classroom, but she was pushed back by Ms Rayam. Shortly after, Deputy Alexander arrived on scene and attempted to grab Ms Rayam while she attempted to push away from Deputy Alexander and physically resist.

Ms Rayam was placed under arrest for simple battery, obstruction, and disrupting public school. Ms Rayam was handcuffed, double locked, and checked for fit. She was searched by Deputy Alexander #925 with no contraband found. Ms Rayam was transported to the Liberty County jail by #942. Warrants for the charges will be applied for in the appropriate amount of time allowed by law.
