On Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 at 18:04 hours, I responded to a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Georgia Highway 38 near CL Barrett Rd between a blue BMW 325CI with a Florida tag of [REDACTED], and a 2005 black Honda CR-V with a Georgia tag of [REDACTED].
The driver of the Honda CR-V, Mr. [VICTIM #1], advised he had been in an accident with another vehicle. The Other vehicle involved fled the scene and was later located and stopped by Midway Police on Georgia Highway 38 near Butler Street. I arrived on scene and made contact with the driver of the other vehicle, Mr. Roy Albury. Mr. [VICTIM #1] arrived on scene shortly after.
Mr. Albury stated while traveling eastbound on Georgia Highway 38, Mr. [VICTIM #1] pulled in front of him and brake checked him. Mr. Albury explained he then pulled in front of Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle and brake checked him multiple times. After doing so Mr. [VICTIM #1] attempted to pass in the right lane and enter back into the left lane in front of Mr. Albury. While entering into his lane Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle struck Mr. Albury’s vehicle.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] explained Mr. Albury was traveling in front of his vehicle and began brake checking him multiple times. He moved into the right lane to pass Mr. Albury and began to merge back into the left lane when Mr. Albury sped up causing both vehicles to collide. They both stopped and an argument between the two drivers occurred. Mr. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Albury law enforcement had already been contacted, at which point Mr. Albury sped away from the scene without providing his information.
Mr. Albury was placed under arrest for Hit and Run and Reckless Driving. He was handcuffed behind the back double locked and checked for proper fit. A search incident to arrest was conducted with no weapons or contraband found. Mr. Albury was secured in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle and transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident. Mr. Albury’s vehicle was released to Hinesville Towing.
The rear seat of the patrol vehicle was searched both prior to and after transport, with no weapons or contraband located.
Both parties were provided with a case number and instructions on how to obtain a copy of this report. An accident report was completed for the accident.
