On January 8, 2021 I was dispatched to [1000 BLOCK] Live Oak Dr in reference to a woman being choked by a man.

Upon arrival on scene the complainant ([WITNESS #1]) stated while delivering pizza to the residence he witnessed a man, later identified as Ruben Gonzalez, dragging his wife, [VICTIM #1], out of a car and strangling her. Mr [WITNESS #1] stated the woman began to scream for help and asked him to call 911.

Mrs [VICTIM #1] stated she and her husband, Mr Gonzalez, were arguing due to him assuming she wanted to take the car away when all she wanted was her things out of the vehicle. Mrs [VICTIM #1] stated Mr Gonzalez then began to choke and drag her out of the car once she began to take her things. In the process of the two arguing, Mrs [VICTIM #1] stated Mr Gonzalez broke her phone and that her husband only acts like this when he drinks. Mrs [VICTIM #1] did not have any marks on her neck and refused EMS.

Mr Gonzalez stated, since leaving work around 2 pm, Mrs [VICTIM #1] had an attitude and was not talking to him. Mr Gonzalez then stated when he began to fall asleep, Mrs [VICTIM #1] took her ring off and tried to leave without telling him where she was going. Mr Gonzalez admitted to dragging Mrs [VICTIM #1] out of the car and breaking her phone. Mr Gonzalez’s hand was scratched from Mrs. [VICTIM #1] trying to remove his hands from her neck.

Upon investigating, blood was present in the back seat of the vehicle consistent with Mr Gonzalez’s injuries and all stories from all parties matched. Mr Gonzalez was placed under arrest for Simple Battery FVA. I transported Mr Gonzalez to the Liberty County Jail for processing and turned him over to booking. Mr Gonzalez will receive two warrants for Criminal Trespass FVA and Simple Battery FVA.

Prior to the beginning of shift, I searched the rear of my patrol vehicle with no contraband being found. Prior to leaving the jail, I searched the rear of my patrol vehicle again with no contraband found.
