On 03/28/2022 at 2000 hours, I was dispatched to 2475 Hwy 196 E (Parkers) in reference to a shoplifting that just occurred.

Upon arrival, I made contact with an employee ([WITNESS #1]) that stated a black male, wearing dark clothing, placed a white claw (alcoholic drink ($3.00 value) into his pocket in front of her and then walked out of the store without paying. She stated she walked out and told him he needed to pay and the male just walked off. Ms [WITNESS #1] stated she wished to press charges and to also trespass the male from the store.

Ofc Riddick #120 observed the male walking on Elma G Miles Pkwy, near Curtis road, and stopped the male.

I then left parkers and met with ofc Riddick. The male was carrying an unopened white claw drink and was intoxicated. The male was identified as Samuel Njau. Mr Njau could not provide a receipt for the item in his possession, and when asked if he had his wallet, he stated he did not, it was at home.

Mr Njau was placed under arrest, placed in handcuffs, and the cuffs were checked for fit and double locked. Mr Njau was then searched incident to arrest with nothing illegal found on his person. Mr Njau was secured in the rear of my patrol car and prior to leaving, a trespass notice was completed. I then transported Mr Njau to jail for booking, issued him a citation with a mandatory court date of 13 April 2022 and released him to the custody of the jail.

Ofc Riddick provided Ms [WITNESS #1] with a case number and her copy of the trespass notice. Ofc Riddick also returned the stolen property, and it will be able to be resold.
