On 09/02/2023 I observed a 2014 orange Dodge Journey, displaying Georgia tag [REDACTED], at the intersection of E Hendry Street and S Main Street with the front seat passenger and three rear seat passengers with no seatbelts attached.

I activated my emergency equipment (blue lights and siren) and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. I made contact with the driver, Jonathan Wallace, and advised him of the reason for the traffic stop. The front seat passenger who was later identified as, Litrez Millett, stated that he did not have his seatbelt on and that was “his bad”. The rear seat passengers were all later identified as, To’mya Anderson, Jaquaves Pittman, and Jalijah Pittman.

While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle I smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. All occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle and have a seat on the curb in front of 248 W General Screven Way (Suds Laundromat). After exiting the vehicle, Ms. Anderson fled the scene on foot running in the direction of Welborn Street. After a brief foot pursuit, Ms. Anderson was apprehended and secured in handcuffs by Officer Adam (114).

While fleeing, Ms. Anderson attempted to throw away a small red bookbag she was carrying, during the pursuit. The bookbag contained, a large amount of cash totaling $2,461.00 in multiple denominations. a black bag containing small clear baggies with green residue, a black scale with green residue, 3 packs of cigarette rolling papers, 1 metal smoking pipe, 1 red case containing a green leafy substance, 8 miscellaneous plastic cards. 1 pocket knife and 3 bottles containing miscellaneous pills.

Ms. Anderson was escorted back to the scene and secured in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted by Officer Adam, Officer Cotezee (131), and Officer G. Joseph (140). The following items were found, 1 blue SCCY handgun (760209) with 10 9mm bullets in the magazine, 1 black Sig Sauer handgun (66A513828) with 11 9mm bullets in the magazine, 1 silver Smith & Wesson handgun (FCF5043) with 16 9mm bullets in the magazine and 2 bottles containing miscellaneous pills.

All other vehicle occupants were detained in handcuffs and placed in various patrol vehicles.

I provided all parties’ information and the vehicle information to central dispatch to run through GCIC/NCIC. The vehicle returned with an active registration and valid insurance. Jaquaves, Jalijah, and Mr. Millett all returned with no valid driver’s licenses and no wants.

Mr. Wallace returned with a valid Georgia driver’s instructional permit and no wants. Ms. Anderson returned with a valid Georgia driver’s license and 3 valid felony warrants through the Hinesville Police Department for Theft by Taking, Battery, and Pointing a Gun at Another (CRN:221147777 & 220627194).

I provided all the above stated serial numbers for the three handguns to central dispatch to run through GCIC/NCIC. The Sig Sauer handgun (66a513828) was reported stolen out of Jesup Police Department in Georgia and the Smith & Wesson handgun (FCF5043) was reported stolen out of the Hinesville Police Department.

Detective Stroman (180) arrived on the scene and assumed the investigation.

When removing Mr. Wallace from the rear seat of Officer G. Joseph’s patrol vehicle three small baggies of green leafy substance were located on the floorboard of the patrol vehicle. Mr. Wallace denied ownership of the baggies. Officer Joseph said he checked the rear seat of his patrol vehicle when he came on duty and after the last time he transported a prisoner.

Ms. Anderson was transported and released to the Liberty County Jail without further incident.

Mr. Wallace was cited for violation of a class CP license and simple misdemeanor marijuana possession with a court date of 09/20/2023.

Mr. Millett was cited for Seatbelt violation with a court date of 09/20/2023.

The vehicle was released to the registered owner at the scene.

A copy of this report was given to the front desk operator for clearance from GCIC/NCIC.
