On Friday, January 28, 2022 at approximately 0808 hours, I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Wayside Turn in reference to a domestic that occurred at [100 BLOCK] Wayside Turn. I arrived and spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. She explained her boyfriend, Mr. Trevor Perdue and her got into a verbal argument about her moving. Mr. Perdue did not want to move to North Georgia yet and wanted to stay in Midway for work.
While arguing outside the trailer, Mr. Perdue grabbed a glass Captain Morgan alcohol bottle, and threw it on the ground breaking it. Mr. Perdue then entered the trailer. He took the car keys to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s car and drove off with it. The vehicle is a grey 2007 Volvo car. I was able to establish, Mr. Perdue uses the car frequently to drive to work, get groceries, and other things. He has done this for the past 5 years.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Perdue came back after about 15, minutes to borrow her cell phone, as his does not work. He uses her cell phone from time to time. They got into another argument and Mr. Perdue drove off again, taking her cell phone.
While speaking with Ms. [VICTIM #1], Mr. Perdue was driving the vehicle down the road. Deputy Martin and I were able to get Mr. Perdue to stop the vehicle in front of [100 BLOCK] Wayside Turn. I began to ask him what happened. He did admit to throwing the glass bottle down and breaking it. Other than that, the story matched.
I got both parties information for this report. I conducted a status check on Mr. Perdue’s driver’s license because he was driving. Dispatch advised Mr. Perdue’s driver’s license was suspended for Failure to Appear on 9/21/21. I finished the investigation of the domestic and then placed Mr. Perdue under arrest for driving while license suspended. I placed him in double-locked, checked for fit handcuffs. I asked Mr. Perdue if he had any items on his person that would hurt me, or any illegal times. He explained he had a meth pipe inside his inner jacket pocket. This item was located in his inner jacket pocket, wrapped in a blue rag. The pipe had residue on it. (This item was seized and dropped in the narcotics evidence locker with property tracking form 8980). There was no other contraband found on him.
He was seated in the rear of my patrol vehicle which was searched before transport finding no contraband. I called on-call narcotics and spoke with Det. Sanders on this. I also requested a Deputy Coffman to bring his K9 to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. I had reason to believe more narcotics were in the vehicle becasue of the drug related object found on Mr. Perdue’s person. Deputy Coffman arrived and deployed K9 Hector with a positive alert. A search was conducted finding signs of narcotic use (spoons with residue, brillo pads around the vehicle), but no further narcotics found.
I gave Ms. [VICTIM #1] a victim pamphlet with a case number. I transported Mr. Perdue to the Liberty County Jail without incident. My rear seat was searched after transport finding no contraband. My body worn camera was activated during this incident. Nothing further at this time.
