On May 27, 2022, at 1219 hours, I was traveling on Airport Rd and Shaw Rd in the inside lane of travel. A white 2014 Mercedes Benz (Ga: [REDACTED) was traveling directly in front of me. I conducted a status check on the tag and it came back suspended. I activated my emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop. Final traffic stop location was on Shaw Rd.
I made contact with the driver (Tushawn Davis) and explained to him the reason for the traffic stop. I asked for his license, which he gave. I asked the driver if he knew his registration was suspended and he said yes. He stated he received a ticket a week ago for it. I returned to my patrol vehicle and conducted a status check on his driver’s license. His license status came back valid. I made contact with the driver again and asked him to step out of the vehicle, which he did.
At this time I told the driver he was being placed under arrest for knowingly driving on a suspended registration. I searched him incident to arrest with no contraband being found. I placed the driver in handcuffs, checked for fit, and doubled locked. I placed the driver in the rear of my patrol car and seat belted him in. The backseat of my patrol vehicle was searched after my last transport with no contraband being found. I transported the driver to the Liberty County Jail for further processing. The backseat of my patrol vehicle was searched after transport with no contraband being found.
The driver was issued a citation for knowingly driving on a suspended registration.
The vehicle was released to Kevin’s Towing.
