On 02/13/2022 at 0636 hrs, I was driving on W Oglethorpe Hwy, when I observed a white ford F150, bearing a Georgia temporary license plate #[REDACTED], driving westbound. I ran a registration check of the vehicle, which returned the registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. The driver of the vehicle matched the general description of the registered owner of the vehicle. At this time I activated my emergency equipment, and conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle. The vehicle pulled in to the parking lot of 735 W Oglethorpe Hwy sonic drive-thru.

I made contact with the driver, Mr Zakariyya Abdul-Kareem, and told him why I made a traffic stop due to his license showing suspended. I asked for Mr Abdul-Kareem’s license, to which he stated he did not have it on him. Mr Abdul-Kareem stated he knew his license was suspended but he thought the suspension had been lifted six months after his suspension. I ran Mr Abdul-Kareem’s license number through central who confirmed it was suspended due to a failure to appear.

Mr Abdul-Kareem was placed under arrest (handcuffed, checked for fit and double locked). Mr Abdul-Kareem was searched and placed in the back seat of my patrol car and buckled in.

Scpl Shin (113) read his driver’s history which revealed this was Mr Abdul-Kareem’s first offense of driving with a suspended license.

Mr Abdul-Kareem’s associate, who is a licensed driver assumed responsibility of his vehicle.

Mr Abdul-Kareem was transported and released to the Liberty county jail. He was cited for driving while license suspended.

Mr Abdul-Kareem’s total bond was: $701.00.

My department issued body worn camera was active for the duration of this traffic stop.
