Driver #1 stated that he was under the influence of alcohol. Driver stated he was traveling in a curve at approximately 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. Driver stated he went into other lane of travel, over corrected and left the road where he struck an embankment and the private mailbox of [500 BLOCK] Strickland Circle. Driver then fled the scene after not providing information to property owner.
Driver was arrested for multiple traffic violations including DUI and hit and run. Seymours Towing was summoned to the scene and took possession of the vehicle with an inventory to tow/ inventory sheet being completed. Vehicle was found to have no valid insurance or registration.
Upon observing the scene, it appeared driver #1 entered into the other lane upon entering the curve and over corrected into his lane. He left the road on the right side and struck a embankment, spun out, reentered the road where he struck a mailbox and backed into the ditch at [500 BLOCK] Strickland Circle. I observed the vehicle and noted multiple points of damage across the vehicle.
I went back into service.
