On Jan. 3rd 2026 I, Sgt. Brandon Moss assisted Georgia State Patrol with a hit and run investigation at the listed location. The listed motorcycle was left at the scene and the driver left before law enforcement arrived. I recieved a description of the driver from the driver of the other vehicle involved. The description was a white male appox. 40-50 with a slim build and scruffy beard wearing tan coveralls.

The driver was said to have left towards Brittani Point subdivison headed in the direction of Jack Sharpe Rd. A Facebook post was made on the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page requesting the publics help in identifying the driver who left the scene. Its important to note that the motorcycle was a Yamaha but had several “Harley” markings and insignia on it to make it appear as a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

At approx. 1400hrs. I recieved information that a male subject fitting that description was seen on an “old Harley” at an address on John Sharpe Rd a few hours prior to the hit and run. The adress was determined to be [100 BLOCK] John Sharpe Rd.

I went and made contact with the owner of this property and she stated that the male subject was named “David” but did not know his last name. She stated that he was her son’s friend, but she did state that he was wearing tan coveralls that morning and left headed in the direction of the hit and run.

At approx. 1500 hrs. on 1/4/2026 I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at the Sheriff’s Office. Mr. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that the listed motorcycle was his but he had never registered it after he purchased it.

He advised that on the morning of Jan 3rd, David Bingham had driven the motorcycle to the above address on John Sharpe Rd to work on it. He stated that when David returned he stated that he had wrecked the motorcycle but [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he didnt know that it was a hit and run until he found out from a friend on this date so he came to the Sheriff’s Office.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Mr. Bingham is homeless but had been staying with him on ocassion. He did not know where he was currently located at but stated he would call if he found out his location.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he was going to attempt located a bill of sale or title for the motorcycle to prove ownership and advised that he would contact the Sheriff’s Office if he did.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to provide David Bingham’s information. I ran Mr. Bingham through GCIC and found that Mr. Bingham is not licensed and has active warrants out of Oglethorpe Co.

The information obtained was fowarded to GSP as well as this case number and the case was turned over to them.
