On 01/18/2026 at approximately 0330 I, Deputy L. Childers 7670 responded to [700 BLOCK] Garnett Ward Rd in Madison County. The drive way to the address from Garnett Ward Rd is known to be difficult to travel so I used the alternate driveway that is located in the 450 block of Candlestick Dr. The call for service was in reference to a male. Eric Alred, pointing a gun at residence inside of the home.

As I approached the driveway on Candlestick Dr I observed a person, later identified as Eric Alred, crouched down with his upper body leaned forward, his hands appeared to be holding his stomach. I updated dispatch via radio then exited my marked patrol car and approached Eric.

As I approached, I announced myself as the Sheriff’s Office and asked if he was ok. At this time I was unaware of the identity of individual I was speaking to or if they were male of female, due to Eric having long hair, the poor lighting conditions and distance away I was when exiting my vehicle.

I approached and continued to ask if Eric was ok. Eric responded that a person was trying to kill him, I was unable to make out the name, and he complained of chest pain. I asked Eric his name by did not receive an answer. It was at this point that I became aware of the fact that the individual I was speaking with was male.

I moved to Eric’s right side. It was at this time that I observed a black object in Eric’s back waistband, I saw that the black object was a handgun. Given the nature of the call, the presence of a suspected hand gun, and that I was unable to see Eric’s hands I ordered Eric to show me his hands. Eric complied and held his arms out to his side.

I ordered Eric to lay face down. Eric refused to lay face down. Eric said that I was going to kill him. I began updating dispatch via radio. As I did I observed Eric reach for the handgun using his right hand. I gave him loud verbal command to not touch the handgun and to place his hands in the air.

It was at this time that I un-holstered my department issued firearm, Glock 17 Seral #BHFVV962, and pointed it at Eric. Eric did not touch the handgun, however he did not follow my command to put his hands in the air. Instead he dropped them by his side for a moment and stood up.

Once standing Eric raised his hands. I ordered Eric to place his hands on his head. Eric complied. I ordered Eric to leave his hands on his head and drop to his knees. Eric complied and asked me to shoot him in the head. I ordered Eric to leave his hands where they were currently and to not move.

I updated dispatch and communicated with Deputies that where responding as back up. Eric told me the hand gun was a Co2 pistol. I held Eric at gunpoint until other deputies arrived. Once backup deputies arrived we were able to safely detain Eric without incident.

Given that Eric was armed with a gun and the nature of the alleged offence it was determined that Eric was possibly a danger. Eric was detained in cuffs and he was frisked for concealed weapons and the handgun was removed. It was discovered upon removing the hand gun that it was in fact a .50 caliber Co2 pistol replica of a 9mm QSZ-92 semi-auto handgun.

I left Eric with the other deputies and relocated to [700 BLOCK] Garnett Ward Rd. Upon arrival I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me that he was inside the home asleep on the couch in the living room. Eric lives beside the home in a shed that has been converted into a separate dwelling.

Eric entered [REDACTED BY AGENCY] home and while holding the Co2 pistol. Eric was holding the Co2 pistol by his down by his hip. Eric began yelling at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about his belief that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] daughter, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is a demon. The yelling woke [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I asked if [REDACTED BY AGENCY] felt that Eric may shoot him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that he did not believe that Eric would have due to the possibility of the hand gun being a Co2 pistol. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that his daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY] due to the yelling and entered the kitchen. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was standing next to her. Eric was yelling and went towards [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that he stepped in between them.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that his wife [REDACTED BY AGENCY] woke up next and entered the living room. Eric pointed the gun at her face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that he knocked the gun away. The argument stopped and the parties separated.

Next I interviewed [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she was standing by her father [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Eric was standing in the living room in front of them. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that at first she did not see the Co2 pistol. Eric was wearing black gloves, the Co2 pistol is black and the Co2 pistol was down by Eric’s hip.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she noticed the Co2 pistol due to Eric moving his arm up toward his chest. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that the Co2 pistol was possibly a bb gun but she was unsure. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was scared.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] told Eric that she had to go to work. Eric told her to go to work. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] responded that she did not need to be at work for a few hours and was trying to sleep prior. Eric told her that he would be waiting.

Given the context of the incident taking place [REDACTED BY AGENCY] believed that Eric was threating to kill her. She expressed to me that she could be ambushed by Eric while in the parking lot. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that Eric pointed the Co2 pistol at her, her father, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], got between Eric and her using his hand.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that her mother, [REDACTED] then entered that living room. Eric pointed the Co2 pistol at her face from close range. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] knocked the gun away so that it was no longer pointing at [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I interviewed [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she was the last one woke by the argument. She entered and Eric pointed the Co2 pistol at her face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said in the moment it did not faze her and she continued to argue with Eric and approached him.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that she began shaking after she had time to process what took place and believed that it was a poor decision to approach Eric after he pointed the Co2 pistol at her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] believed that there was a possibility that the hand gun was a Co2 pistol.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had some belief that the hand gun was a Co2 pistol however, given that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said she was scared, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] blocked both his daughter and wife after Eric pointed the Co2 pistol at them, that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] became scared and believed that moving closer to Eric was a poor decision, and that the Co2 pistol is a replica of an actual firearm and has no clear marking indicating it is not a firearm. It is reasonable to believe that [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had reasonable belief that the Co2 pistol was a real firearm at the time of the incident.

Eric was read Maranda from a miranda card and asked if he wished to answer questions. Eric indicated that he did wish to answer questions. I asked Eric what happened. Eric said that he has been kept awake for 4 days. Eric said that there has been ongoing issues in his house that he has not disclosed to anyone else however, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] still know about the issues and know what he is doing at all times.

Eric said that he had enough. Eric believes that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] friend has been threating Eric’s attorney and telling him to go outside and blow his head off because something is coming to pick him up and take him to heaven so that he can do his job for God.

I redirected Eric to what happened tonight prior to my arrival. Eric said that he went in the house and yelled at them because the things that Eric believes have been going on is his house need to stop. Eric believes that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] friend is a witch, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is a Witch, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is a demon. Eric said that he can see that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is a demon, he can see it in her face.

I asked Eric about the Co2 pistol. Eric said that he did take it in the home with him, that the safety was on the whole time, and that he had no intention to hurt anyone. Eric said he took the Co2 pistol into the home with the intent to scare [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] so that the issues at his home would stop.

I repeated to Eric that he had no intention to hurt anyone and only intended to scare [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to clarify and ensure that I understood Eric. Eric said yes he just wanted to make a point. Eric said that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] have been manipulating his thoughts, emotions, and everything about his existence.

I asked Eric if he. pointed the Co2 pistol at anyone. Eric said that he had pointed the pistol at them but his finger was off the trigger, as he said this he gestured with his right hand as if to hold a gun with the finger on the side of and out of the trigger guard. I asked if he pointed the Co2 pistol at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Eric said that he did point the Co2 pistol at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I believe that Eric was possibly having a mental health crisis at the time of the incident, however I found it notable that while communicating with Eric he understood me and answered my questions without issue. I spoke with Sgt. Hunt prior to my questioning and Eric responded appropriately when asked questions to see if he was of sound mind.

I was led to believe that Eric had the clarity to keep his finger outside the trigger guard of the Co2 pistol and the Co2 pistol was on safe while attempting to intimidate [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

[REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me that Eric does own and keep rifles in his home. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me that they are fearful that Eric my return and kill them with one of the firearms that he owns. Eric told me while I was questioning him that he is a felon. When asked if he has any firearms in his home he denied the claim and said that he only owns air guns.

Based off of the testimonial and physical evidence I have probable cause to believe that Eric committed the offence of aggravated assault, terroristic threats or acts and burglary in the 1st degree. Eric was arrested. Upon arrest and prior to searching his person incident to arrest, Eric told me that he possessed methamphetamines. Eric told me that the meth was in the bottom of his left front pocket, held in a small metal container. The substance was located and did field test positive for methamphetamines.

The Co2 pistol, magazine, Co2 cartage, 4 metal .50 caliber projectiles, and the suspected methamphetamines where secured in evidence. I will seek warrants for aggravated assault x3, felony terroristic threats and acts x3, and possession of methamphetamines x1.

Prior to transporting Eric to the Madison County Jail I checked the handcuffs for fit and double locked them. Eric was placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle and buckled in.
