On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at approximately 2314 hours, I, Deputy Sheriff C. Wilson, was patrolling Monroe County in the area of Interstate 75 southbound near mile marker 187 when I observed a motorcycle traveling southbound in the number two lane of travel with a partially tinted license plate cover. Once in close proximity to the motorcycle, I observed the license plate to be [REDACTED]. I ran the license plate through my in-car GCIC system, and the motorcycle returned with a canceled registration and no valid insurance. I activated my emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop on the gray 2003 Honda [REDACTED]. The driver slowly pulled over onto the right shoulder of the Interstate 75 southbound Exit 186 off-ramp. As the motorcycle came to a stop, I observed that the driver continued engaging the brakes and had not shifted the motorcycle into park. This observation and behavior drew my attention and placed me at a heightened level of alert.
I exited my patrol vehicle and slowly began approaching the motorcycle. Once I had done so, the motorcycle immediately fled from me and made a right turn off the Exit 186 off-ramp onto Tift College Drive. I notified Monroe County Dispatch that the suspect had initiated a vehicle pursuit and provided my direction of travel and speed updates. The driver made several rapid turns onto side streets off Tift College Drive in an attempt to perform evasive maneuvers and escape my presence but was unsuccessful.
The driver then made a left turn onto Highway 41 South, running the stop sign while doing so. As the pursuit continued southbound on Highway 41 South, it reached speeds of approximately 130 mph. I continued providing location updates and observed the driver operating the motorcycle in an extremely reckless manner. The driver intentionally left his lane of travel, drove on the wrong side of the roadway, and demonstrated no concern for the safety of the innocent motoring public. Once a secondary Monroe County deputy closed the distance and began assisting me in the vehicle pursuit, I advised surrounding units that I would attempt to box the motorcycle in to prevent the driver from continuing to flee and endanger the innocent motoring public.
Near approximately mile marker 6 on Highway 41 South, and after nearly 10 continuous minutes of the driver fleeing from me at speeds greater than 100 mph in a posted 55 mph zone, I managed to position my patrol vehicle in front of the motorcycle. I tactically began reducing the motorcycle’s speed by positioning my patrol vehicle in front of the driver so that he could no longer accelerate.
I slowly decreased my speed, and as I began performing the box-in tactic, the driver intentionally left the roadway on the left-hand side of Highway 41 South in an attempt to drive through the ditch and pass my patrol vehicle so that he could continue fleeing. While attempting this dangerous maneuver, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in him crashing and falling from the motorcycle. As the motorcycle crashed, it inverted and struck the left rear bumper of my patrol vehicle. There was no contact between my patrol vehicle and the motorcycle prior to the driver crashing as a result of his own actions.
The driver immediately stood up and began fleeing on foot along the railroad tracks that run east of and parallel to Highway 41 South. I provided Dispatch with an update regarding his approximate location, and assisting deputies and I continued pursuing the man on foot.
After a short foot pursuit, the man attempted to navigate through thick brush and ultimately became stuck. He was pulled from the woods and placed under arrest with his hands secured in handcuffs behind his back. The handcuffs were checked for proper fit and double-locked.
The man was identified as Jimmy Parker. Upon running Parker’s information, it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended for multiple violations. Parker was evaluated by Monroe County EMS personnel and ultimately transported to the Monroe County Hospital, where he outright refused medical treatment.
Parker was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where he was booked on multiple charges, including felony fleeing, speeding, reckless driving, and others.
