On 09/12/2025, at approximately 2223 hours, I Officer Maranville, responded to 270 North Lee Street. In reference to a disturbance between a store clerk and a customer.

Upon arrival I, made contact with [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that the cashier became aggressive toward his wife [REDACTED], when the cashier missed ringing up their candy. The cashier began yelling and aggressively coming over the counter. [VICTIM #1] then placed his hand up at the cashier trying to back him up. The cashier then began repeatedly slapping [VICTIM #1]’s hand till he pulled his hand back.

I then made contact with the cashier Robert Cline. Cline stated that the female [REDACTED] began arguing with him. When he advised the candy wasn’t scanned with the other items because it wasn’t on the counter. Cline stated [VICTIM #1] put his finger in his face and so he then struck [VICTIM #1]’s hand.

I then reviewed the security footage of the incident in question. I observed [VICTIM #1] come to the counter with his items to purchase. Cline then began scanning the items, as Cline was scanning the items, [VICTIM #1]’s child placed the candy on the counter. Cline finished scanning the items and began bagging the items. Cline then noticed the candy and snatched the candy from the counter. His demeanor then became aggressive toward [REDACTED], yelling and aggressively pointing his finger at her leaning over the counter. [VICTIM #1] then placed his hand up in attempts to keep Cline back. Cline then slapped [VICTIM #1]’s hand repeatedly till he pulled his hand away.

Cline was then advised he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Hand cuffs were then placed on Cline to the rear and checked for tightness and double locked. I then searched Cline’s person before placing him in the back seat of my patrol vehicle. Cline was then transported to Monroe County Jail and released to Monroe County Jail officers.
