On 10/27/2025 I, Officer Ray, responded to [40 BLOCK] Wheat street in reference to an assault that had taken place.

When I arrived on scene, I spoke with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that his ex [WITNESS #1] was at this residence with their two juvenile children (ages: 3 years old and an 11 month old) and her grandparents (Ladena and [REDACTED]) to retrieve her personal property from the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that the entire time [WITNESS #1] was at the residence gathering her belongings, Ladena was “running her mouth”.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Ladena was cursing at him and making derogatory remarks to him. [VICTIM #1] advised that Ladena was walking out of the door and he was walking behind her. [VICTIM #1] stated that while walking towards the front door, Ladena called [VICTIM #1] a bit*h and stated that she hated him. [VICTIM #1] advised that he told Ladena that he “hated her too, and all she did was raise a bunch of crack head kids”.

It was at this time [VICTIM #1] stated that Ladena turned around and struck him with her right hand resulting in a scratch that caused blood to [VICTIM #1]’s right hand/knuckle area. [VICTIM #1] stated that Ladena then got in his face and continued cursing at him before [WITNESS #1] and [REDACTED] came inside and got Ladena to get out of the house. [VICTIM #1] stated his two children were present during this. [VICTIM #1] advised that shortly after the incident, Ladena, [REDACTED], [WITNESS #1], and the two children got into their vehicle and left the property.

[VICTIM #1] then showed me video footage from inside his residence leading up to the strike from Ladena and after the fact, but it did not show the strike itself. [VICTIM #1] did however have a cut on his right hand with dried blood across his knuckles. I asked [VICTIM #1] to send the video footage to me via email to which he did. I then took pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s injury and continued gathering information needed for this report from [VICTIM #1].

I then left the residence and attempted to make contact with Ladena. I was unsuccessful in making contact with Ladena, but I was able to speak with [WITNESS #1]. I began asking [WITNESS #1] what happened at [VICTIM #1]’s house. [WITNESS #1] stated that she was there to retrieve her property from the house and had brought her grandparents and two children over as well. [WITNESS #1] stated that she brought the children over so [VICTIM #1] could spend time with them, but instead he and her grandmother (Ladena) were arguing with each other the entire time. [WITNESS #1] stated that [VICTIM #1] was antagonizing Ladena.

[WITNESS #1] then stated that she was outside with her grandfather [REDACTED] when they heard fighting. I asked [WITNESS #1] what she heard, to which she advised that she heard Ladena scream “get away from me”. [WITNESS #1] stated that she and [REDACTED] went back to the front door of the house where Ladena and [VICTIM #1] were and “separated” them. [WITNESS #1] then stated that they all left the house. I then began gathering [WITNESS #1]’s information and asked if Ladena was with her. [WITNESS #1] stated that Ladena was with her. I then asked [WITNESS #1] for Ladena’s information and asked to speak with Ladena.

I then heard a male [REDACTED] in the background advise [WITNESS #1] that no information about Ladena would be given over the phone and that I could speak with them at the Sheriff’s Office. I then advised [WITNESS #1] to have Ladena go to the Sheriff’s Office so I could speak with her and get her side. [WITNESS #1] stated that Ladena and [REDACTED] would be headed that way shortly, at which time I thanked [WITNESS #1] and ended the phone call.

Shortly after speaking with [WITNESS #1], I was advised that Ladena was in the front lobby of the Chatsworth Police Department. I then went to the lobby to speak with Ladena. When I arrived in the lobby, Ladena and [REDACTED] were both in the lobby. I then asked Ladena what had happened at [VICTIM #1]’s house earlier. Ladena began to tell me about a broken Wii gaming system and that [VICTIM #1] was cursing at her the whole time they were there. Ladena stated that she was taking the gaming system out to the car when she “felt threatened” that [VICTIM #1] was behind her. Ladena stated that she was scared so she turned around and hit [VICTIM #1] after he made a comment about raising crack heads.

I then advised Ladena that I had video footage of the incident and from what I observed, it did not appear as if [VICTIM #1] was in her ear as she had described. I told Ladena that it appeared that [VICTIM #1] was walking behind her to the front door and she got mad at his crack head comment and turned around to hit him for that. Ladena stated again that she “felt threatened” and it was a shame that “you can’t defend yourself in this Country anymore”. I again expressed to Ladena that it did not appear from the video footage that she was being threatened as much as it appeared that she struck [VICTIM #1] out of anger.

At this time, I advised Ladena that [VICTIM #1] did wish to press charges on her for striking him and doing so in front of the children. I then asked Ladena to stand up from the couch and advised her that she was going to be placed under arrest. I then placed handcuffs on Ladena and escorted her to the rear passenger side of my patrol vehicle. I then escorted Ladena to the Murray County Detention Center, where upon arrival she was turned over to jail staff.

The video footage I received from [VICTIM #1] along with pictures taken of his hand will be put onto a flash drive and placed into evidence at the Chatsworth Police Department.
