CHATSWORTH – The Murray County Sheriff’s Office arrested a student of the Pleasant Valley Innovative School, an alternative high school in the Murray County School District, after a principal found a taser/flash light while checking him in.

17-year-old Elijah David Hatchett was arrested and charged with Carrying Weapon Within School Safety zones or School Functions as Non-License Holder, which makes it a felony.

On 3-10-2021 and while at Pleasant Valley Innovative School, Elijah David Hatchett dob:8-4-2003 was found in possession of a BLUPOWER handheld taser/flashlight while being checked upon his arrival at the school by Assistant Principal Dustin Strickland.

I was then notified by school administration of the findings. Elijah was placed under arrest for possession of a weapon on school property and I then transported him to the Murray County Jail. A warrant was applied for and signed.
