On 2/7/2022 at approximately 1715 hours, the Columbus Police Department patrol division were dispatched to the area of Riverland Drive and Ramsey Road in reference to an occupied stolen vehicle (2019 VW Atlas). Upon locating the vehicle, police observed the vehicle flee from the area. The vehicle was later recovered at the intersection of Lumpkin Court and Thornton Drive. A security camera fixed on a residence at this intersection captured three individuals exiting the vehicle and fled on foot on Lumpkin Court towards Kendrick Avenue.
It was reported that prior to the vehicle initially fleeing from the area it was originally located by police, an officer shot at the vehicle as it was traveling towards one of them. At approximately 1756 hours, two individuals with gunshot injuries arrived at Piedmont (Midtown) Medical Center. It was discovered, based on the clothes they were wearing and the circumstances surrounding this incident, that these individuals (Dominick Gill, Elijah Smith, and Jakori Thomas) were the occupants of the stolen vehicle.
