On 11/27/24 I, Deputy Dunston #9273, Deputy Jones #9111, Deputy Brown #9120, and Corporal Wilkerson #9135 responded to the area of Highway 36 in reference to an assault call.

Upon my arrival I made contact with a witness, who stated she was in the parking lot when the incident occurred. She stated an unknown white male with a black jacket came outside screaming for someone to call the police, because someone was shot and got into a black truck and drove off. She stated she heard a gun shot prior and got in a vehicle and drove to the CVS pharmacy parking lot. She stated she had her 2 year old child in the vehicle and wanted to remove her from the scene. She stated she then saw someone run out of the store and jump into a vehicle and leave the parking lot, but was unsure of the direction they may have went.

I then went into the business, where I spoke with the victim. The victim stated he did not want to disclose who the offender was. The victim stated he was inside the store when the offender approached him saying “yeah yeah yeah” he stated that the offender then began hitting him. He stated the offender then was pulling a firearm from his person. The victim stated that he told the offender “why dont you just fight me you dont have to shoot me.” He stated that is when the offender hit him in the face several times with the gun. I observed his forehead swollen and bleeding. He stated that is when they were fighting over the firearm and it went off. He stated that is when he grabbed the firearm and threw it over the counter.

The crime scene was marked off by Cpl Wilkerson. Deputy Jones completed the Crime Scene Log, and the witness filled out a witness statement. The firearm was collected as evidence. Everything was turned over to Crime Scene Sgt Kitchens #956, Lt. Waterson #972, Investigator Hicks # 9157, and Investigator Collins #9179 responded to the scene. EMS responded to the scene.
