Warning: The following story contains information regarding graphic physical violence.
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. – On November 21, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, a Newton County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call regarding a family fight at a Pickens Road residence in Covington and discovered a man who had been stabbed in the lower abdomen, with his intestines “hanging out of the wound.” After stumbling and falling to the ground, the victim told the deputy “that Ethan stabbed him.”
Ethan Cole Parks, who had fled into the woods, eventually surrendered peacefully and was transported to the sheriff’s office. Parks, 24, faces a charge of aggravated assault – family violence for stabbing the 37-year-old victim with a knife during an argument.
Upon finding the severely injured victim down the road, the deputy alerted emergency medical services and applied pressure to the wound until help arrived. While searching for identification, the deputy located two knives in the victim’s pocket.
A witness informed the deputy that he had observed the entire incident. He said the two men argued, and Ethan stated, “My dad ain’t goin’ back to the chain gang,” before stabbing the victim.
The witness added that after the stabbing, Ethan said, “I just stabbed you, b*tch,” before running off into a nearby wooded area. After a short while, Ethan returned to the crime scene and was handcuffed without incident.
This case is pending.
