[NARRATIVE #1 on April 14, 2026]

On 4/14/2026, at approximately 1308, I, Dep. Glenn responded to W University Pkwy and Jimmy Daniel Rd regarding a hit-and-run traffic crash. The complainant told dispatch that a white Chevrolet Tahoe bearing the license plate [REDACTED] sideswiped his vehicle, and kept driving westbound on University Pkwy. I asked dispatch to put out a BOLO (lookout request) in Barrow County for the Tahoe while I met with the complainant. Barrow County deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped at W University Pkwy and Smith Cemetery Rd, and held all passengers until Sgt. Ogan and I got there.

The complainant told me that prior to the crash, he was traveling in the right lane of travel, and the Tahoe was being driven in the left lane of travel. There was road work on the highway, and posted signs instructing drivers to merge right because the left lane was closed ahead. The driver of the Tahoe continued driving in the left lane, and right before the lane closed, the Tahoe’s driver’s began negotiating a lane change.

The Tahoe’s driver sideswiped the front of the complainant’s vehicle, overtaking the complainant’s vehicle as it drove into the right lane. After the crash occurred, the Tahoe’s driver continued forward, never attempting to stop. The complainant followed the Tahoe down University Pkwy, and called 9-1-1 to report the collision.

The complainant’s vehicle sustained minor damage from the crash, including damage to its side mirror. The complainant told me that the driver appeared to be an older, chubby, white lady with short hair. The complainant said the front passenger in the vehicle appeared to be white or mixed with white and Latina, and had dark hair with some white in it. When I arrived to Barrow County, the women described were not sitting in the seats the complainant told me they were sitting in, and there was an additional passenger seated in the rear.

The lady described as the driver, identified herself as Anita Thomas, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was seated in the front passenger seat. The other lady, with dark hair, was seated in the driver’s seat. I escorted both women out of the vehicle separately, and spoke with them to get their statement. Both women told me they were aware they had been involved in a traffic crash, and didn’t think it was a big enough deal to stop when it occurred. After getting statements, I entered the given information into GCIC/NCIC, and saw that the information given by Anita did not return any results.

I asked Anita if she had given me the correct information, and she changed her name to Anita Gregory Thomas with the same date of birth. This information did not yield any results either. She was asked if she had a driver’s license, and she told me no. Anita told me that she had been issued ID cards in Indiana and Kentucky. When I tried to enter the information given into NCIC, it did not yield any results.

Eventually, Anita gave me an old ID number from Kentucky, and I was able to identify her. Her name was Anita Gregory, and her actual date of birth was [REDACTED]. Anita and her front passenger told me that Anita had not been driving, although the victim told me differently.

I arrested Anita Gregory, searched her, then secured her into my vehicle. I initially arrested her passenger as well for Obstruction or Hindering Law enforcement, but Barrow County deputies took custody of her for other crimes committed in Barrow County. Barrow County also arrested the rear passenger for an out-of-state warrant with full extradition. The Tahoe was towed by Wilson’s Towing.

Ms. Gregory was taken to the jail, and turned over without incident. She was charged with hit-and-run, driving without a valid license, and improper lane change. An additional charge of giving false info to law enforcement was sworn to in Barrow County. All relevant forms are attached to this report.

[NARRATIVE #2 on April 14, 2026]

[VICTIM #1] was the complainant and victim. [VICTIM #2] was the passenger in his vehicle. Shirley Pittman was identified as the passenger in the Tahoe, and told me the vehicle belonged to her husband.

A warrant for obstruction was sworn in Barrow County with Judge Durden for Ms. Pittman for switching seats with Anita Gregory, and lying about it. Justin Thomas was the rear passenger in the vehicle driven by Anita Gregory. Initially, Justin refused to identify himself. While on scene, Sgt. Ogan was able to get him identified using Clearview, and discovered that he was wanted in Kentucky for identity theft. Barrow County deputies arrested him.

While completing a vehicle inventory, Sgt. Ogan and a Barrow County deputy found a bag with meth in it in the rear passenger compartment. Ms. Pittman identified the bag as hers, and was also arrested and taken to the Barrow County jail.
