On 12/20/2025, at approximately 1223, I, Dep. Glenn responded to the parking lot of Kroger at 1720 Epps Bridge Pkwy regarding a private property hit-and-run.
The complainant, a Kroger employee, told me that as he loaded groceries into a customer’s vehicle, a black Chrysler began backing from its parking spot. As the Chrysler backed, it struck the complainant’s cart, and pushed the cart onto his legs. The complainant told me that he was briefly pinned between his cart, the Chrysler, and the vehicle he was loading groceries into. The complainant complained of leg pain, and was seen by National EMS. The complainant told me that the driver of the Chrysler was an older white woman, but was unsure if he would be able to recognize her if he completed a photo lineup.
I was shown camera footage of the incident. The Chrysler backed from its parking space as the complainant loaded groceries. The Chrysler backed into the cart the complainant was lifting groceries from, and caused the cart to strike the complainant. The impact pushed the complainant into the rear of the vehicle he was loading. After the collision, the driver of the vehicle picked up a passenger standing near where the complainant was struck, and pulled into a parking space. After sitting in the parking space for a few moments, the driver backed out and drove away.
A license plate, [REDACTED], was provided for the Chrysler, and I was able to get an address for the vehicle’s owner. When I went to the address, I spoke to the owner, Carla Maxey. She told me that she thought she hit another vehicle, and didn’t think there was any damage, so she left. She never got out of her vehicle, nor attempted to leave required information.
I placed Mrs. Maxey under arrest, searched her, then secured her into my vehicle. She was taken to the jail, and turned over without incident. She was charged with hit-and-run. A copy of this incident will be logged into evidence once provided from Kroger, and a request for driver review will be completed.
[End of Narrative]
