[NARRATIVE #1 on January 16, 2026]

On 1/16/2026, at approximately 1828, I, Dep. Glenn responded to Dollar General at 6280 High Shoals Rd regarding an incident of indecent exposure. The complainant, the assistant store manager, told dispatch that an older white man exposed his genitalia to a child inside the store. The complainant told dispatch that all parties involved were still inside the store, and were separated.

When I arrived, the complainant pointed out the man she called about. The man was pushing a shopping cart on the left side of the store beside the cooler section. I asked the man to walk outside the store to speak with me, and he did. I noticed that he was bent at the waist, and his pants were loose around the top of his thighs. I asked if he had identification on him, and he handed me an expired driver’s license that identified him as Ronald Martyn. He told me that he was aware that his license was expired. I gave dispatch his information, and they confirmed that his license expired 10/10/2025.

I asked Mr. Martyn if he could tell me what had taken place inside the store. Initially, he told me that he did not know what I was talking about. I told him that a 911 call was received about an incident involving him. I asked if he saw any children when he was inside the store, and he said no. I asked if he spoke to any children while inside the store, and he said no. I asked if he had any wardrobe malfunction inside the store, and he told me he realized that his pants were unzipped.

I asked what he did once he realized his pants were unzipped, and he told me that he zipped them up. I asked if at any time that his zipper was down if his p*nis was exposed. Mr. Martyn said, “It’s very possible.” I asked if he was wearing underwear, and he said yes. At this time, Mr. Martyn placed both hands inside his pants pockets and pulled his pants up hard, so they were no longer loose around his thighs. I asked him to take his hands out of his pockets, and he did. He asked if he could get a cigarette from his vehicle.

I asked Mr. Martyn if he could walk me through his entire encounter at the store from the time he arrived until I asked him to step outside. I told him that I wanted to understand what had taken place, and whether it was accidental. He told me that he walked in, got a shopping cart, and started pushing it around the store. He walked down the food aisle first, and saw what he wanted. He said that he didn’t pick up any food items then because he decided to walk around first.

While walking around the store, he said that he went by the trashcans and looked for a store employee, but couldn’t find one. Afterwards, he said he looked at blankets, and then went to the dollar section, before he saw me. I asked if he remembered where he was in the store when he realized his p*nis was exposed. Mr. Martyn said, “I don’t remember my p*nis being exposed.”

He told me that he was over by the automotive section when he realized his pants were down. I asked how he realized his pants were down, and he told me that he put his hands in his pockets and felt that his pants were loose. He said that he remembered zipping his pants up, but didn’t look down. He told me that he had used the bathroom before leaving his job in Crawford, and must have forgotten to zip his pants. He started talking, “If anybody would’ve seen…,” then stopped. He continued, “If anything was visible, nobody could see because the buggy was blocking it.”

I went into the store to look at camera footage of the incident. Mr. Martyn was seen entering the store with his pants up, and his jacket covering the front of his pants. His pants were not loose around the waist. While walking down the aisle in front of the coolers, Mr. Martyn lifted his jacket up and began fumbling with his pants. As another customer walked by, he was seen pulling his jacket back over the front of his pants. He waited in front of one cooler section for a moment before walking to the very end of the aisle.

At the end of the aisle, as he walked to another aisle, his pants appeared to be loose. He walked slightly bent over his shopping cart. He came up the aisle and crossed paths with 2 juveniles (Victim 1 and Victim 2). After they passed him, he looked after them, then turned down another aisle. He continued walking around the store, going up and down aisles. I went back out to speak to Mr. Martyn, and asked if he could read and write. He said yes. I asked if he was willing to write a statement about what had taken place, and he asked, “What’s going to happen after that.” I explained that I just wanted to make sure that he was telling me the same thing the camera footage would show.

I spoke with Sgt. Ogan, who interviewed Victim 1. He told me that Victim 1 saw Mr. Martyn’s p*nis and t*sticles fully exposed as he walked toward her and Victim 2 in the store. Based on the statements received from Mr. Martyn and Victim 1, I developed probable cause to arrest Mr. Martyn for 2 counts of child molestation and driving without a valid license.

I got Mr. Martyn’s written statement, then placed him under arrest. While walking him to my vehicle, he told me that he wanted to speak to me. I told him that I would have to read him the Miranda warning before I could speak to him. When we got to my vehicle, I began searching Mr. Martyn incident to arrest, then saw that his pants were unzipped. I read him the Miranda warning, and he agreed to talk with me.

I asked what he wanted to tell me. Mr. Martyn said, “I zipped my pants up when I walked out here!” This statement was not consistent with the statement he previously gave. He said, “Ma’am, if the zipper keeps coming down, that’s something I can’t help.” I asked if he thought there was some malfunction with his zipper, and he said, “Could be.” I asked how long he had those particular pants, and he said 5 or 6 years. He said, “I didn’t flash anyone. I didn’t pull my shirt up and say hey look at this!” I asked if there was a point in the store when he realized his p*nis and t*sticles were exposed, and he paused. Mr. Martyn said, “To my knowledge, no.” He told me that he didn’t think he was being treated fairly by being arrested.

I took Mr. Martyn to the jail, and turned him over without incident. At the jail, he was served with a Notice of Prohibited entry, barring him from Dollar General. Lt. Wooster and Dep. Suto waited with his vehicle until it was picked up by a licensed driver. He was charged with 2 counts of child molestation and driving without a valid license. Warrants were sworn at the jail with Judge Connelly. Since Mr. Martyn introduced the idea of something potentially being wrong with his zipper, I decided to see if it worked properly. When his clothing was collected by the jail staff, I saw that Mr. Martyn had been wearing 2 pairs of pants. 1 pair were the blue jeans, his outer layer, and the other were black sweatpants. Underneath the sweatpants were black boxer briefs.

The sweatpants had a drawstring, and did not have any opening slits on the front. The sweatpants were not mentioned in his statement. I tested his zipper, and saw that it was functioning as a zipper should. There were no areas of the zipper that were compromised. I zipped the zipper all the way up, and pulled the pants at both sides to see if the zipper would fall down. It did not. A video of the testing and photographs of the clothing have been booked into evidence.

[NARRATIVE #2 on January 16, 2026]

On January 16th, 2026, at around 6:30 pm, I responded to the Dollar General located at 6280 High Shoals regarding an elderly male who exposed himself to a child inside the store. When I arrived, Deputy Glenn had made contact with the male and was walking with him outside the store. I went to the employee break room where I met with the juvenile victims and their grandmother. Juvenile victim #1 was an 9-year-old girl and juvenile victim #2 was an 8-year-old boy.

I had victim #2 go to a different room with the complainant while I spoke with victim #1 and her grandmother. Victim #1 told me that she was with her grandmother near the front of the store when she went to get deodorant. She was heading over to the deodorant when she passed the suspect, Ronald Martyn. Martyn had his privates exposed, and she was able to clearly see them. When asked specifically what she saw, victim #1 said that it was a bad word and her grandmother gave her permission to say the words.

Victim #1 explained that Martyn’s p*nis and balls were both exposed. After passing Martyn, victim #1 ran to her grandmother and told her what happened. Victim #1 walked me over to the area in the store where she had contact with Martyn. She explained that she was near the candles on the dividing aisle in the middle of the store. We walked through, and she explained that she was walking towards the milk aisle and Martyn was walking the opposite direction. The area where victim #1 explained they had passed each other was at the end cap of aisle 13.

I was able to review the video footage from inside the store. I saw that Martyn walked into the store at 6:19 pm and his pants were up around his waist and his p*nis and scrotum were not exposed. Martyn actually pulled his jacket down over the front of his pants. Martyn walked about halfway down the milk aisle where he stopped. There was an adult woman near him that was looking at various items. He moved forward as if he was going to make a selection. After she moved away from him, Martyn stepped back from the display. He began adjusting his pants, and it appeared that he pulled the front of his pants down.

Due to the quality of the video and distance, I was unable to clearly see if Martyn’s p*nis or scrotum were exposed. Martyn begins walking towards the back of the store. The woman circles around the aisle and begins walking down towards Martyn. After she passed Martyn, Martyn reached down with his left hand and grabbed at something in the area of his crotch. Martyn then continues walking towards the back of the store where he turns right walking along the back wall. The rear aisle security camera is motion activated, and it does not activate until right before Martyn walks down aisle 13 towards where the candles are located.

It appears that Martyn’s pants were pulled down in the front and sagging. This was different from when Martyn first walked into the store. At the same time as Martyn is walking down aisle 13, victim #1 and victim #2 began walking down aisle 6 towards the center of the store. They turn left onto the center aisle at the same time, Martyn is emerging into the center aisle from aisle 13. The video footage is from a distance and over the top of the shelves. I saw the victims pass Martyn and turn left onto the milk aisle. The victims run to the front of the store to find their grandmother.

Martyn makes a U-turn and heads back down aisle 13. He circles around and walks down aisle 12. When he walks around, and I saw where he leaned his head out over an aisle. Martyn was looking back towards the front of the store where both of the victims had run. He moves back and forth on a few aisles and continues looking towards the front of the store where the victims are. He appears to be looking at items on the shelves and while still looking at the front of the store.

Martyn does not make any selections of any items and his shopping cart was empty. Martyn walks around the store until Deputy Glenn arrives. I obtained copies of the store’s security cameras from when Martyn walks in until Deputy Glenn arrives at the store. This video footage was placed on a USB thumb drive and turned over to Deputy Glenn.

I was able to speak with the victims’ grandmother away from the victims. The grandmother told me that out of all of her grandchildren, victim #1 was the most independent and the strongest. Victim #1 does not have any issues with being shy. The grandmother was astonished because when victim #1 came to her, victim #1 was acting abnormal. Victim #1 held the grandmother’s hand and seemed legitimately scared. This was unusual and not normal for victim #1.

I spoke with the complainant, assistant manager, and witness, cashier. The witness was working up front when he was approached by the grandmother. The witness did not see Martyn before being approached by the grandmother. The witness then went to the complainant, who was stocking shelves in the back of the store. The complainant reported that she did not see Martyn until after the witness approached her. The complainant completed a notice of prohibited entry for Martyn which barred him from the store.
