The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on June 23, 2025.
PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. – This morning, shortly after 7:00 AM, Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 63 Eagles Nest Dr, in Hiram. Upon arrival, Deputies found a 19-year-old man who had been shot. Deputies immediately started life-saving efforts until Fire and EMS arrived on the scene. First responders did everything they could, but sadly, he did not survive.
Detectives spoke with several people who were in the home, sleeping at the time. Based on what they’ve learned so far, it appears that a three-year-old child found a gun and accidentally fired it, hitting the young man while he was asleep. This is a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.
