On January 28, 2026, at approximately 21:58 hours, I, Deputy H. Acree #1373, was dispatched to [1900 BLOCK] Browntown Rd, Rockmart, GA, in reference to a dispute involving a firearm between the complainant, [VICTIM #1], and several subjects. Upon arriving on scene, I came in contact with three subjects: [WITNESS #1], [WITNESS #2], and [VICTIM #2].

I spoke with [VICTIM #2], who stated that she was attacked by two females. [VICTIM #2] stated that she was pushed down to the ground by [VICTIM #1] while he was trying to call E-911. [VICTIM #2] stated that she was then assaulted by two other females who fled the scene. After speaking with [VICTIM #2], I examined her face, which showed visible marks and redness on the left side of her face. [VICTIM #2] had a busted lip and what seemed to be early bruising.

I spoke with [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2], who both have made the same statement. Both stated that they saw a large fight in the front yard of the residence. Both stated that they saw [VICTIM #1] push [VICTIM #2] to the ground while on the phone. Both stated that the two females who attacked [VICTIM #2] had fled the scene after hearing E-911 being called.

After speaking to [WITNESS #2], [WITNESS #1], and [VICTIM #2], I spoke with two victims, [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #3], who were working on a truck in the front yard of the residence. [VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #2] both made the same statement. [VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #2] stated that there was fighting outside the residence. Both stated that they saw [VICTIM #1] on the phone with E-911, while being surrounded by three females. Both stated that the female [VICTIM #2] was hitting [VICTIM #1] in the face and done so multiple times with a closed fist before being shoved to the ground by [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #2] stated they both saw the subject, Bart Bickers, exit his vehicle and chamber a round in his firearm. Both stated that Bart walked towards [VICTIM #1], pointing the firearm at him. Both stated that Bart then struck [VICTIM #1] with the front of the firearm twice, once in the head, knocking him to the ground, then again in the collarbone area. [VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #2] both stated that Bart then pointed his firearm at [VICTIM #1]’s face.

[VICTIM #3] and [VICTIM #2] advised that Bart then proceeded to walk towards them and pointed the firearm at them, saying, “Your Next.” Both stated that they told Bart that they were just working on the truck and were not involved. Both stated that Bart then fled the scene in a vehicle.

After speaking with [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #3], I spoke with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was at the residence to see his nephew with his wife. [VICTIM #1] stated that there was a bunch of people at the residence, and they started fighting in the front yard, and that he was trying to de-escalate the situation by calling E-911.

While calling E-911, [VICTIM #1] stated that he was surrounded by three females. [VICTIM #1] stated that one of the females started striking him in the face with a closed fist and did so multiple times. [VICTIM #1] stated that he shoved her to the ground in order to protect himself.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Bart arrived at the residence and proceeded to exit his vehicle and chamber a round in his firearm. [VICTIM #1] stated that Bart walked up to him with the firearm and pointed it at him. [VICTIM #1] stated that Bart struck him with a firearm twice, once in the head, knocking him to the ground, and another at his collarbone area.

[VICTIM #1] stated that after being struck, Bart pointed the firearm at his face. [VICTIM #1] stated that he ran inside the house and called E-911 again to inform them that the situation had escalated and that Bart had a gun. [VICTIM #1] stated that he stayed inside the residence due to being in fear for his life.

After speaking with [VICTIM #1], I spoke with [WITNESS #3], who advised me that she returned to the residence after receiving a call from her sister stating that people were fighting at her home. [WITNESS #3] was asked if she owned a firearm, to which she stated she did not. [WITNESS #3] gave consent for deputies to look for the firearm. Deputies located a handgun holster in an open drawer in a bedroom where a child was sleeping.

I spoke with [WITNESS #4], who was able to get in contact with Bart. I asked if [WITNESS #4] could get Bart to come back to the residence to talk with deputies. Once Bart arrived, he asked what was going on, and I informed Bart of what had occurred and asked him if he owned a firearm. Bart denied owning a firearm and stated he did not know anything about a firearm.

After Bart wrote his statement, and due to overwhelming evidence from witnesses, along with physical evidence, Bart was placed under arrest for three counts of OCGA 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault- Gun/other weapon, and OCGA 16-5-23.1 Battery. Bart was handcuffed and checked for weapons before being transported to the Paulding County Detention Center without incident.

All parties were seen by EMS and refused treatment. Written statement forms were given to those willing to give a statement, and pictures were taken of all visible injuries done to [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1]. Warrants were obtained for Bart following his arrest. I advised all victims on scene that Bart was being placed under arrest, and advised all parties on scene of the proper procedure to obtain a copy of the report before returning to service.

GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENT — 5 COUNTS FILED AGAINST BART JUSTIN BICKERS

What this means: A Paulding County grand jury returned a “true bill” of indictment against Bart Justin Bickers on April 22, 2026, in the Superior Court of Paulding County (Case No. 26-CR-000265-P2). A grand jury true bill means a panel of citizens reviewed the evidence presented by District Attorney Robert S. Lane and agreed there was enough to formally charge Bart Justin Bickers. The indictment covers five counts, all allegedly occurring between January 28 and January 29, 2026, in Paulding County.

Count 1 — Aggravated Assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21): Bart Justin Bickers is accused of making an assault upon a victim with a deadly weapon — specifically a handgun — by pointing it at the victim.

Count 2 — Aggravated Assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21): Bart Justin Bickers is accused of making an assault upon a second victim with a deadly weapon — a handgun — by pointing it at the victim.

Count 3 — Aggravated Assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21): Bart Justin Bickers is accused of making an assault upon a third victim with a deadly weapon — a handgun — by pointing it at the victim.

STATE’S LEAD PROSECUTOR ENTERS APPEARANCE IN BICKERS CASE

What this means: Assistant District Attorney Deidra Alexander formally entered her appearance as lead counsel for the State of Georgia in the case against Bart Justin Bickers in Paulding Superior Court (Case No. 26-CR-000265-P2). This filing, dated April 27, 2026, means Alexander is now the primary prosecutor handling the case on behalf of the state, and all official court notices should be directed to her going forward.

DEFENSE ATTORNEY ENTERS APPEARANCE; BICKERS WAIVES FORMAL ARRAIGNMENT AND PLEADS NOT GUILTY

What this means: On May 4, 2026, attorney Aaron S. Henrickson of H & S Law, LLC formally entered his appearance as defense counsel for Bart Justin Bickers in Paulding Superior Court (Case No. 26-CR-000265-P2). On the same date, Henrickson filed a Motion to Invoke the Standing Order in Criminal Cases and a Waiver of Arraignment on Bickers’ behalf. This means Bart Justin Bickers chose to skip the formal arraignment hearing — a proceeding where charges are read aloud in open court — and instead entered a plea of Not Guilty through his attorney in writing. Bickers also formally demanded a trial by jury. This is a routine procedural step and does not indicate anything about the strength of the case.
