On this date, 11/01/2025, I was dispatched to [50 BLOCK] Joshua Lane in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Upon my arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2].
[VICTIM #1] advised that his son, Jeremy Rodriguez, had returned home from a Halloween party at approximately 0230 hours. [VICTIM #1] stated that he had locked the front door to the residence because of how late Jeremy stayed out. [VICTIM #1] said that Jeremy began kicking and banging on the front door to be let inside the residence. [VICTIM #1] explained that when he opened the front door to let Jeremy inside, a verbal dispute began. [VICTIM #1] described Jeremy as cursing at him for locking the front door. [VICTIM #1] then said that the dispute became physical, and Jeremy obtained a knife from the kitchen. [VICTIM #1] advised that Jeremy began attempting to stab him with this knife, and his wife, [VICTIM #2], was attempting to separate him and Jeremy.
While attempting to separate [VICTIM #1] and Jeremy, [VICTIM #2] was stabbed in the right forearm with the knife. [VICTIM #2] explained that Jeremy had an unknown friend with him who told Jeremy that he had stabbed someone with the knife. [VICTIM #2] advised that after learning this, Jeremy and his friend left the area on foot.
Upon viewing the stab wound to [VICTIM #2]’s right forearm, it appeared to be a deep puncture wound approximately 3/4 of an inch to 1 inch wide. [VICTIM #2] was treated on scene by EMS and declined transport to the hospital via ambulance. [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] declined to provide written witness statements for this event. [VICTIM #2] advised that she did not want to press charges; however, I explained to her due to this being a family violence case, I would pursue charges on the state’s behalf. A perimeter was set, and deputies attempted to locate Jeremy with no success.
Warrants were applied for aggravated battery and aggravated assault. I was unable to take photos of the wound due to it being bandaged by EMS; however, it should be visible in body camera footage of the incident.
I spoke with an SRO who is familiar with Jeremy and was advised that he is known to frequently associate with an [REDACTED] subject who resides at [100 BLOCK] Brier Bend Court and possibly was the unknown friend that was at the residence.
