On 10/09/2025, at 1158 hours, I responded to [300 BLOCK] Bramlett Way in reference to a dispute.

Upon arrival, I made contact with Marcus Daniels at the front door and he stated the following:

He advised that he was scared of his mother and that she had some concerning things on her cell phone that he wanted to show deputies. Marcus was erratic and was talking about several things at once, and not explaining what he wanted deputies to see on his mother’s phone. Marcus then saw a passenger car drive in front of the incident location, and believed it to be a police car, which it was not a police car when I turned to look.

Marcus then stepped inside the door to call for his mother, [VICTIM #1], to speak with deputies. When [VICTIM #1] came to the front door, she demanded that Marcus give her cell phone back to her, and that he had taken it from her. I then asked Marcus to give the cell phone back to [VICTIM #1], and he was refusing to do so because he wanted to show us what he believed to be concerning. Marcus then gave the cell phone back to [VICTIM #1], and I asked to speak with her away from Marcus.

I stepped off the front porch with [VICTIM #1], and spoke with her on the driveway while Deputy Childers #1237 spoke with Marcus on the front steps of the house. I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and she stated the following:

Marcus was on drugs again which is why he was acting erratic. I asked [VICTIM #1] if anything had been physical, and she stated that there was a physical altercation. Marcus heard [VICTIM #1]’s statement, and he began yelling and interrupting [VICTIM #1] while she was talking. Marcus stated, “I subdued her.” I then asked [VICTIM #1] what had occurred and she advised that it was on recording and showed me her cell phone where she had a Ring camera in her bedroom that recorded the altercation.

I then watched the video. I observed Marcus entering [VICTIM #1]’s bedroom where he was yelling profanity at her and getting in her face and calling her derogatory names. Marcus gets in her face several times, and [VICTIM #1] is seen attempting to push Marcus away from her, and at one point tries to kick him away after he shoved her. Marcus was pacing back and fourth in the video, and still yelling and calling [VICTIM #1] derogatory names.

I then observed Marcus to approach [VICTIM #1] where he then used his hand to grab her by the throat, push her backwards on to her bed, and pin her down on the bed. Marcus gets up and is screaming at the camera and knocks the camera off.

I asked [VICTIM #1] if at any point she had stopped breathing, and she stated, “no,” and that Marcus had squeezed her throat. I asked [VICTIM #1] at what point Marcus let her go, and she stated that she was able to grab his hand and bite him on the knuckle where he then let her go and left.

While I was speaking to [VICTIM #1] and watching the video, Marcus had called 911 and was telling the operator that he was scared and that deputies were talking to the other person involved. Deputy Childers advised dispatch that Marcus was probably calling into 911 again. Dispatch advised that they received a call and that the line was abandoned, and pinged it to the incident location.

After I watched the video, I signaled to Deputy Childers that Marcus would be under arrest.

By the time I got to the front door, Marcus had closed and locked the front door. I knocked on the door, and Marcus barely opened the door. I then placed my foot along the bottom of the door to keep Marcus from closing the door. Marcus was stating that we did not listen to him, and that we did not watch what he wanted to show deputies.

I then pushed the door opened and got in the front door. Marcus was holding a cup of water and his cell phone in his hand. I then grabbed his wrist to keep him from leaving and advised him that he was under arrest and to place his hand behind his back. The cup of water was dropped as Marcus tried to pull his arm away from me. Marcus refused to placed his arms behind his back, and Deputy Childers was able to detain both of Marcus’ arms so that I could place him in handcuffs. Marcus was twisting his body away which kept me from being able to place him in handcuffs. Deputies then attempted to reposition the way Marcus was standing.

While trying to move Marcus, deputies, as well as Marcus, were slipping from the water on the ground. Deputy Childers turned Marcus and both fell to the ground on their side. Deputy Childers was still holding on to Marcus’ arms, and Marcus was attempting to move his legs to get up. I gave Marcus verbal commands to lay on his stomach and keep his arms behind his back. Marcus was yelling that he was scared, and at one point stated that he could not breath.

Marcus kept his hands behind his back, and I then placed him in handcuffs. I checked for fit, and double locked the handcuffs. Deputies then instructed Marcus to kneel while we held his upper body up. Marcus then stood up where deputies escorted him outside the front door and in front of my patrol vehicle (S-245).

Deputy Childers searched Marcus incident to arrest. Marcus was then placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle.

I grabbed a statement form, and asked [VICTIM #1] if she would write a statement, and she refused. I then asked [VICTIM #1] for her cell phone to retrieve the video footage. [VICTIM #1] was hesitant and did not want Marcus to be arrested, but was tired of him being on drugs and doing whatever he wanted. [VICTIM #1] pulled up the video, and I recorded the video on my county issued cell phone. I advised [VICTIM #1] of the Temporary Protective Order process, and she advised that she was familiar with the process and the Eviction process.

When I had initially spoken with Marcus, I did observe there to be blood on his knuckle. An image of Marcus’ hand was taken. I also took pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s arms and neck. [VICTIM #1] did not have have any visible marks at the time.

I transported Marcus to the Paulding County Detention Center without incident. While driving, Marcus kept stating that he did not want to die and that he was scared. Marcus was turned over to Detention Center jailers without incident.

I obtained warrants on Marcus Daniels for Simple Battery against a Person who is 65 Years or Older, False Imprisonment, and Unlawful Conduct during a 911 call.
