On 11/14/2025, I was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] Bramlett Way in reference to a domestic disturbance. While in route, Dispatch aired an alert on the residence regarding Marcus Daniel, an alert which I had previously placed on the residence due to his hostility toward law enforcement. The caller, his mother identified as [VICTIM #1], advised Dispatch that Marcus had spit on her and was possibly on drugs.
While en route to the call, Marcus called Dispatch and advised he would not open the door for law enforcement.
Deputy Barragan and I arrived on scene and made contact with Marcus at the front door. He stated he did not want anything with us and said he had video on his phone. He was talking rapidly and not making sense and mentioned something about a Pepsi. He showed Deputy Barragan and I video from a ride home with his [VICTIM #1] today but there was nothing of evidentiary value and it was well before the dispute occurred.
Upon speaking with [VICTIM #1], she said Marcus had been taking things from her such as a camera, Doritos, and a Pepsi. She stated Marcus had also removed a Ring doorbell camera that was mounted at the front door. She said Marcus was in her bedroom and got in her face during an argument was taking place and spit on her hand. She said Marcus also threatened to spit in her face.
I asked Marcus if he spit on [VICTIM #1] and he showed me a missing front tooth and said spit must have come out of the gap where the tooth was. Marcus’s dialogue continued to be erratic and all over the place, consistent with schizophrenia. [VICTIM #1] said he suffers from that and he has not taken his medications.
Marcus became upset and emotional on scene. Myself and other deputies on scene had him sit down on the front porch. Due to my investigation and evidence at that time, I advised Deputy Valentine Nelson, who was also on scene. that I was placing Marcus under arrest so that he could be prepared in case Marcus’s behavior continued to escalate (simple battery for the spitting on his mother during the argument).
While placing Marcus under arrest, he continuously jerked away from deputies and stiffened his arms. Deputy Valentine Nelson grabbed his left arm while I was grabbing his right arm and I got one handcuff on. Marcus continued jerking away and resisting commands and we had to forcefully bring his hands behind his back by manipulating his wrists and elbows.
After the brief struggle, I was able to affect the arrest and we ended up having to physically walk Marcus to my patrol vehicle due to his unwillingness to cooperate and walk. At one point, he was briefly having to be carried. We were able to get Marcus secured in the backseat of my patrol car and seat belted in without further incident and without injury to him or deputies. I was able to do a limited search of his clothing due to his combativeness and there were no weapons.
[VICTIM #1] declined to write a statement.
I transported Marcus to the PCSO jail and prior to a pre-jail admission search, Marcus admitted to having “drugs” when he was asked about any contraband. Jailer Seagle #1475 recovered a clear plastic bag of a finely ground white crystal substance from his pocket, and it was then turned over to me.
I placed the contraband into evidence, and I believed it was methamphetamine based on it’s appearance as well as Marcus saying it was “Ice.”
I charged Marcus with Possession of Methamphetamine, Crossing the Guard Line with Illegal Drugs, Simple Battery FVA, and misdemeanor Obstruction.
[End of Narrative]
