On December 25th, 2024, I, Deputy Greenway, and Deputy Tymkew, were dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Aiken Ln in reference to a dispute. While in route, dispatch informed Deputies that a subject was hit with a crowbar and Fire and Metro were in route as well. Upon arrival, Deputies were met on the front porch by the complainant [WITNESS #1], the victim [VICTIM #1], and a witness [WITNESS #2]. [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #1] were telling [VICTIM #1] to come out to the front porch. Deputies witnessed [VICTIM #1] walking out of the house with the front of his shirt covered in blood. [VICTIM #1]’s face was bleeding from the left side of his face and had swelling on the left side of his face right above his cheek. His left eye appeared to be swelling as well.
I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and asked him what happened. [VICTIM #1] stated that his son Patrick was yelling at [WITNESS #1]. [VICTIM #1] told Patrick to stop disrespecting [WITNESS #1]. Patrick and [VICTIM #1] then got into a verbal argument. [VICTIM #1] stated that Patrick told him to stand up. [VICTIM #1] did and then Patrick hit him with a crowbar in the left side of the face. I took photos of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries.
Deputy Tymkew spoke with [WITNESS #1]. She stated that her and [VICTIM #1] were verbally arguing. Patrick then stepped in between them and told them to stop arguing. [WITNESS #1] then stated that Patrick hit [VICTIM #1] with a crow bar. [WITNESS #1] then went inside and grabbed the crowbar to show Deputies. [WITNESS #2] confirmed that the crowbar was the object used to hit [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #2] also stated that he was injured in the altercation when he stepped in between [VICTIM #1] and Patrick. [VICTIM #1] stated that he put his hand up to stop Patrick and was cut by the crowbar. [VICTIM #1] stated that he has fair skin and gets cut easily. I took a photo of the crowbar. [WITNESS #1] also stated that Patrick left the incident location towards the backyard.
When Metro arrived on scene they checked on [VICTIM #1]. Metro advised that [VICTIM #1] may have a broken orbital socket. [VICTIM #1] decided to go to the hospital and was transported to Kennestone Hospital.
Deputies searched the area around the incident location in an attempt to locate Patrick to no success. Deputies asked [WITNESS #1] to call Patrick and see if he would come back to the residence. [WITNESS #1] did so and Patrick stated that he would head back.
Deputy Caldwell had arrived on scene to assist Deputies. While waiting on Patrick to come back to the incident location, he saw a subject walking on Aiken Ln from Aiken Pl. Deputies drove up the road to meet the subject.
Deputy Tymkew met the subject, Patrick, first. Patrick stated “he did it” with out context. Deputy Tymkew began to question Patrick on the incident. Patrick stated that he was in his room putting a TV together. Patrick could hear [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] verbally arguing in the living room. Patrick went out to the living room and told both of them to stop arguing. [VICTIM #1] then started yelling at Patrick. Patrick stated that he told [VICTIM #1] several times not to argue with him. Patrick stated that [VICTIM #1] then stood up and approached Patrick. Patrick stated that he would start to walk away but would stop and continue to talk argue with [VICTIM #1]. Patrick stated that there have been physical altercations between him and [VICTIM #1] in the past where [VICTIM #1] would beat up Patrick. Patrick never stated that he hit [VICTIM #1] and continued to drag his story out by going back to previous incidents and explaining his story in further detail.
Deputies placed Patrick under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon(F) and Aggravated Battery(FV)(F). I placed Patrick in handcuffs behind his back, checked for fit, and double locked them. Patrick was transported to Paulding County Detention Center and turned over to jail staff without incident.
Photos of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries and the crowbar were attached to this report and the Sheriff Office I-Drive. Warrants will be taken for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon(F) and Aggravated Battery(FV)(F). Patrick is [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1]’s son, and [WITNESS #2]’s nephew.
