On January 26, 2026, at approximately (time) hours, I, Deputy Aaliyah Nelson, responded to a domestic disturbance call at [6700 BLOCK] Bill Carruth Pkwy, Hiram Ga 30141.

Upon arrival, Deputy Mattick knocked on the front door, but there was no response. The door appeared to be cracked open, so Deputy Mattick knocked again, and the door opened. The suspect, Yolken Augusma, approached the door, and Deputy Mattick announced and stated the reason for our appearance, to which Mr. Augusma stated “no” and closed the door.

Deputy Mattick and I made entry and instructed Mr. Augusma to come out, and he was searched for weapons. We announced ourselves again to locate the female party involved, but there was no answer. We cleared the residence, and the victim, [VICTIM #1], came out of a room. She stated her husband hit her, and I observed her injuries, including a bruised and swollen left eye with what appeared to be a busted blood vessel in her eye. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she is 6 months pregnant, and that he knows of the pregnancy.

I instructed Deputy Benson to place Mr. Augusma under arrest. I continued speaking with Ms. [VICTIM #1], whose primary language is Creole. She understood most of my questions and stated she caught her husband cheating and confronted him in person. He became angry, hit her multiple times with a closed fist on the left side of her face, pushed her, and started to hit her again.

Deputy Mattick asked how he hit her, to which she demonstrated a closed fist in a punching motion. He then made her go into their bedroom, closed the door, and she stated she was unable to get out. Ms. [VICTIM #1] did have a red mark going across her neck, along with scratches on her neck. She stated this has happened before, and she’s tired of it.

She stated he returned to the room with a knife and screwdriver, pointing them at her, and started getting closer to her. She asked if she could leave, and he said no. He then wrapped a cord around her neck. Ms. [VICTIM #1] demonstrated the strangulation with both hands grabbing her neck and pulling away, stating, “She had to get out.”

Due to the language barrier, she was unable to explain her breathing or any other questions of that nature. She stated that he then kicked her in the stomach multiple times and that she wanted to be checked for her injuries.

Metro arrived on scene and transported her to Cobb Hospital. I attempted to read Mr. Augusma his Miranda rights, but due to the language barrier, he did not understand. I ended all communications regarding this case with Mr. Augusma for this reason.

After further investigation, Mr. Yolken Augusma was identified as the predominant aggressor by posing the most serious and ongoing threat and was taken into custody. I obtained warrants for Aggravated Assault by Strangulation, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (x2), Battery (Family Violence) x2, Battery against a female who is pregnant, and False Imprisonment (Family Violence).

Ms. [VICTIM #1] was experiencing contractions, according to Metros notes, due to the unknown status of their unborn child, a warrant will not be issued for Battery on an Unborn Child. The Juvenile Division has been notified of this incident. Mr. Yolken Augusma was checked for property, double-locked, and transported to the Paulding County jail by Deputy Benson.

Photos were taken of all injuries, and I returned back in service.
