On 09/29/2026, I, Officer Nations of the Clayton Police Department responded to Becks Funeral Home in reference to a person on scene screaming in the parking area at employees. I was advised that the employees locked themselves inside due to fear and for safety. I later learned that the suspect, identified as Crystal Lynn Sagner, traveled to Becks and demanded the body of a male subject who was killed hours previously.

Upon my arrival, I observed a vehicle parked in the parking area, located in front of the building. I exited my patrol vehicle and I observed Crystal look at me in her driver’s side mirror and say words out loud, then put the vehicle into a forward gear. Crystal began to move forward and I loudly instructed her to stop, but the Crystal failed to follow my commands and accelerated through the parking lot towards the exit road. I returned to my patrol vehicle, re-activated my emergency lights and followed in behind the vehicle.

Crystal stopped at the end of the driveway and I started to exit my vehicle and Crystal began to flee again. Crystal traveled around 25 ft forward and stopped again, this time in the access road to HWY 441 S. I exited and instructed Crystal to turn the vehicle’s engine off, but Crystal refused to follow my instructions. I approached the driver’s side open window and continued to give Crystal verbal commands to turn the engine off. Crystal refused and made comments that I killed her son.

I observed Crystal had no weapons in her hands and had moved her arms out of the path to the ignition key switch. I took the opportunity to reach inside the vehicle and turn off the vehicle’s engine in effort to keep Crystal from driving away again. Crystal immediately grabbed my arm after I turned the ignition off and we both grappled for the keys. I was able to open the driver’s side door and take control of Crystal’s left arm. I gave Crystal commands to exit the vehicle and she would not comply.

I attempted to pull Crystal from the vehicle, but the seat belt prevented it. I instructed Crystal to unbuckle her seat belt, but Crystal would not comply. Crystal had control of the ignition keys in her right hand and I observed that she was able to reach the ignition switch. I began to push her head back to control her reach so that she could not reach the ignition switch to start the vehicle and drive off with me inside the door way.

I continued to hold Crystal until Ofc Chapman arrived on scene. I asked Ofc Chapman to unbuckle Crystal’s seat belt. We removed Crystal from the vehicle and laid her on the roadway. We were able to secure one of Crystal’s arms while attempting to complete the arrest, and Ofc Chapman placed the handcuff on her wrist. I pulled Crystal’s other arm from beneath her and maneuvered Crystal’s arm around and we were able to secure the other handcuff on her other wrist.

Robert Garner of the Commerce, GA, Police Department was traveling by and assisted with getting Crystal to her feet and helping me walk Crystal to the rear passenger’s side of my vehicle. Crystal was placed into the rear of my patrol vehicle and seat belted in. During the arrest, Crystal had her own feces and urine all over the rear of her pants and it appeared to be normal behavior due to finding plastic trash bags lining the driver’s seat of her vehicle when she traveled.

Crystal was provided with a Criminal Trepass Warning to not return to Becks Funeral Home or she would be arrested. I transported Crystal to the Rabun County Detention Center and turned her over to staff without incident. Prior to entering the detention center, a folding knife was found hidden in Crystal’s bra. I completed the required paperwork and citations and provided them to detention center staff. I returned to the police department and disinfected and deep cleaned the rear seat of my patrol vehicle.
