On Monday, July 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM, the Clayton Police received a call about a fight at Currhee Brewin, located at 83 West Savannah Street. Sergeant Andy Beck arrived at the scene and observed a group of people engaged in an altercation near the street. He identified a male, later recognized as Mark Andrew Tyson, as the primary aggressor. Tyson appeared to be attempting to fight another individual, identified as [VICTIM #1].
Beck approached the group and intervened to break up the fight. Tyson continued to display aggressive behavior toward others, prompting Beck to place him in handcuffs due to his level of aggression. Due to Tyson’s intoxication and aggression, Beck found it difficult to comprehend his statements. Tyson claimed that [VICTIM #1] had pending charges for sex offenses and had been in contact with his daughter. He mentioned having photographs of her and that they had both gone to the movies together, suggesting their frequent visits to the same places.
In contrast, [VICTIM #1] explained that he had come to the brewery, spent some time there, and then went to his car. Upon returning, he stated that Tyson had confronted him near the road after coming from the restaurant next door. [VICTIM #1] admitted to pushing Tyson during the confrontation, which escalated into a fight.
Officer Jimmy Nations spoke with several witnesses who described Tyson as drunk, out of control, and very disorderly. Both parties had video-recorded the incident. Beck indicated that he would attach both videos if the owners were willing to provide them. Ultimately, Beck placed Tyson under arrest for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
