On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 2100 hours, Deputy Thomas Ray and Deputy Alize Gscheidle (Passenger) were sitting in patrol unit 305, which was parked on Sand Bar Ferry near Oak Street, conducting routine traffic enforcement. Deputy Camryn Cook was sitting behind unit 305 in her unit 307. At this time, Deputies observed a black 2011 Cadillac SRX (Ga Tag: [REDACTED]; Last 6 of VIN: [REDACTED]) traveling Eastbound on Sand Bar Ferry. Deputies observed that the vehicle’s tag lights were not operational.
Deputy Ray activated his patrol unit’s emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for this violation. The vehicle failed to pull over and continued to travel east on Sand Bar Ferry Road, increasing speed. Deputies continued to pursue the vehicle east on Sand Bar Ferry Road at speeds of approximately 90 mph.
The vehicle drove through the parking lot with other miscellaneous vehicles in the parking lot of 545 Sand Bar Ferry Road (Discount Stop) at a high rate of speed, with Deputies pursuing, going over curbs in the parking lot. Deputies then pursued the vehicle out of the business parking lot into the entrance gates of 602 Fairhope Street (Legacy at Walton Oaks).
The vehicle drove through the closed entrance gates (Middle Gate) of the property at a high rate of speed, destroying the entrance gate. Deputy Ray continued to pursue the vehicle while the vehicle continued to attempt to elude Deputies, causing damage to the front glass and front fender of his patrol unit.
While Deputies were pursuing the vehicle in a residential area, the vehicle struck the rear of a parked White 2015 Ford Transit (Ga Tag: [REDACTED]; Last 6 of VIN: [REDACTED]) near the 3000 building of the property. The vehicle then wrecked out near the 4000 block of the property after the vehicle jumped a curve and hit a barbecue grill. All airbags deployed from the vehicle. Deputy Ray and Deputy Gscheidle observed a black male climbing out of the vehicle.
Deputies were able to observe the male, and after being handcuffed, the male was still attempting to run away. Deputies placed the black male in the rear of a patrol vehicle. The black male stated he does not know his name and that he is mentally retarded. Deputies were able to locate the male’s identification card in his pocket. The male was identified as Brione Rhodes.
After running Brione’s name through GCIC/NCIC, it was determined that Brione’s license was suspended, and he had a felony warrant out of Dougherty County (refer to Case Number: 26-075104), who advised they would like to place a hold per RCSO Records Clerk [REDACTED].
Deputies located 2 open bottles of beer in the vehicle. GSP Jamie Champion 366 arrived on scene and charged Brione with DUI. The property manager of The Legacy of Walton Oaks, [REDACTED], was contacted, and it was determined that the estimated value of the entrance gate was $10,000. Brione was transported to Au Hospital and, once cleared, was transported to CBWDC.
Deputy Ray will be charging Brione with Felony Fleeing, Criminal Damage to Property (2nd Degree), Obstruction (Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving, Hit and Run/Leaving the Scene of the Accident, Open Container, Driving While License Suspended, and Tag Light Violation.
RCSO RECORDS Clerk [REDACTED] was contacted upon warrants being signed. The owner of the damaged Ford Transit was contacted and given a case number. [REDACTED] was given a Case Number. Sgt. Ferguson in CID was notified of the incident. Next list Wright One Towing arrived on scene and towed away the Brione’s vehicle.
