On Wednesday February 11, 2026, at 1837hrs, I, Cpl. Jayson Williams C181/C-15 and Dep. Cameron Carreras C813/T-17 responded to Wheeler Rd and Interstate Pkwy for a motor vehicle crash with injuries.
Upon arrival I discovered the crash was involving a motorcycle, and a white sedan. Dep. Carreras was seeing to the motorcyclist while I saw to the white sedan. I was approached by a black female who advised she was the other vehicle involved in the crash, and advised she pulled out of the roadway and into the parking lot the Circle K, 3744-Wheeler Rd, to get out of the way.
Upon walking over to the white sedan, I saw it was a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu bearing a GA [REDACTED], VIN #[REDACTED], and had significant damage to the right rear quarter panel, and the right rear wheel appeared to be bent also. I asked the female for her license, and she was identified as HICKSON, Jeannette (arrested).
I asked Mrs. Hickson what happened, and she stated she was attempting to turn left at the light and didn’t see the motorcyclist coming when she turned left into the path of the motorcyclist when the front of the motorcycle struck the right rear quarter panel of the Malibu. Mrs. Hickson again stated she never saw the motorcycle coming.
I asked Mrs. Hickson if anyone else was in the vehicle with her she stated yes that her son, HICKSON, Darrell Jr. (arrested), was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. I asked for his information, and then asked where he was, and she stated then he was already gone, stated he needed to get to his daughter. I asked Mrs. Hickson where her son was sitting and she stated he was in the front passenger seat.
I then turned my attention to the motorcyclist to check on status of injuries. EMS was finishing up getting the rider ready to be transported, but I could see no obvious signs of injury at that time. Once I finished at the scene, I relocated to Doctor’s Hospital for a status update, and was advised by the ER Doctor that the driver, [VICTIM #1]; has suffered both broken arms, ruptured bladder, pelvis fractures, and might have other injuries but unknown at that time.
I then went to Mrs. Hickson’s listed address to obtain the original citation I had issued at the scene since I wanted to wait until we know the full extent of injuries before we charge anyone. Upon making contact with Mrs. Hickson again, she began making statements that her son was the driver, and not her. I stopped Mrs. Hickson and asked her to clarify what she was stating.
Mrs. Hickson stated she wasn’t the driver that her son was driving the Malibu at the time of the crash. I asked Mrs. Hickson why did tell me at the scene that she was the driver, and she stated she was confused at the questions. I then asked her where her son was, and she didn’t know where he was. I asked Mrs. Hickson why he didn’t come forward at the scene stating he was the driver even after I issued her the citations, she stated she told him she would take care of it, since it was her vehicle.
I went back to the Circle K, 3744-Wheeler Rd, and reviewed CCTV footage of the crash. Upon review I observed a black male exit the Malibu who I could identify as Mr. Darrell Hickson Jr. I then went back to Mrs. Hickson’s address, to ask her to make contact with Mr. Hickson, and have him return to her residence as we needed to talk to him. Upon arrival Mr. Hickson was standing the kitchen of Mrs. Hickson’s residence.
I spoke to Mr. Hickson and asked him why he didn’t come forward at the scene, and Mr. Hickson stated he was scared and just wanted to get back to his daughter. I asked Mr. Hickson where he went after the crash, he stated he walked back to his mother’s residence to be with his daughter.
I asked Mr. Hickson to fill out a driver statement form of his events of the crash. Mr. Hickson stated in his written statement he was attempting to turn around at the light when something struck the rear of his vehicle he was driving. Mr. Hickson advised after he felt the impact he pulled into the parking lot the Circle K and went over to the motorcyclist to check on them before walking away.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Hickson were arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail. Mr. Hickson was charged with improper U-Turn, HIT and RUN Felony, and Serious Injury Motor Vehicle. Mrs. Hickson was charged with obstructions, and False statement in a government matter.
Warrants were applied for the listed charged.
