On Friday, January 30, 2026, at approximately 1503 hours, Deputy Hannah Gay and Deputy Joshua Johnson were on scene at 1384 Greene Street in reference to an unrelated call for service.

While on scene, Deputy Gay could see and hear what appeared to be a male arguing with others and hollering on scene. Deputy Gay approached the male, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Deputy Gay could smell alcohol coming from his breathe, he was slurring his speech, and he was observed consuming an unknown substance that was inside of a brown paper bag.

Deputy Gay was advised by several people on scene that the male was trying to start verbal and physical altercations with several others. The witnesses on scene did not wish to be listed as witnesses and wished to have the male removed from the scene.

Deputy Gay approached the male, who identified himself as Justin Key with a DOB of [REDACTED]. Deputy Gay advised the subject that he needed to leave the scene due to being under the influence of alcohol and for trying to start an altercation. “Justin Key” refused to leave the scene and was still on scene arguing with others.

Deputy Gay advised “Justin Key” to place his hands behind his back and he refused to do so. Deputy Gay grabbed “Justin Key” by his left hand/wrist and he actively refused to comply with Deputy Gay’s verbal instructions by pulling away and not providing Deputy Gay his hand. Deputy Gay grabbed “Justin Key” by his arms and clothing while pulling him to the ground. Deputy Gay then laid “Justin Key” on his stomach and attempted to place him into handcuffs behind his back but he was still actively resisting and refusing to follow verbal commands. Deputy Joshua Johnson assisted Deputy Gay and “Justin Key” was successfully placed into handcuffs behind his back.

Deputy Gay and Deputy Johnson attempted to place “Justin Key” into the rear of Deputy Gay’s marked patrol car, but he continued to actively resist by not placing his feet/legs into the patrol vehicle and by forcefully moving his body in attempts to exit the patrol vehicle. “Justin Key” was able to exit the patrol vehicle and he was immediately placed on the ground by Deputy Gay, where Deputies were able to gain control of “Justin Key.” “Justin Key” was placed into the rear of the patrol car and he was transported to the Richmond County Detention Center on the charges of Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction.

Due to not being able to find a driver’s license picture of “Justin Key” through GCIC, Deputy Gay requested the detention center to run “Justin Key’s” fingerprints. It was then determined that the male’s correct name is Daryl Key. Deputy Gay showed Daryl Key an old mugshot picture of himself, and he advised that the male in the picture was him.

Daryl Key was then committed on the listed charges: Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction, and Giving False Name and Date of Birth. Warrants were obtained and Richmond County Sheriff’s Officer records Clerk [REDACTED] was advised.
