On 05/21/2025 at 1501 hours I Deputy Handsome Johnson / courtesy officer responded to [1500 BLOCK] 15 St apartment [REDACTED] in reference to a suspicious situation that occurred on 05/20/2025 hours.

The property manager, [WITNESS #1], advised me about a situation occurring on 05/20/2025 via text message, asking if I could speak with Dawnisha Johnson about her [REDACTED BY AGENCY] walking around in the parking lot alone. A resident brought the juvenile to the leasing office, and [WITNESS #1] advised her that her son was there.

I, Deputy Handsome Johnson, unit (327), responded to the listed address to talk to Johnson about leaving her kids unattended. When I knocked on the front door, I heard loud screaming inside her apartment. As I continued to knock, Johnson [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and her [REDACTED BY AGENCY], opened the door and were crying and didn’t know where their mother was. I walked inside the residence to see if Johnson was inside and to ensure the juveniles were not alone. Johnson had left the residence, and no one knew where she was.

I contacted CPL Sanderson (C11), who advised me to contact DFACS. After talking with DFACS, Dawnisha Johnson (mother) showed up at her residence and stated that she left her children home alone while going to get them something to eat, and that she was only gone for about 15 minutes. At that point, I detained Johnson and placed her in the back of my patrol vehicle.

I spoke to [REDACTED] (other/DFACS), who advised Johnson to contact a family member to turn her children over to her son’s grandmother, [REDACTED], advised DFACS and me that she would take care of them until this situation is resolved. The juveniles were turned over to her.

SGT Perkins from CID was notified, and a warrant was applied for.

Johnson was taken into custody and was transported to the RCJ.
