[NARRATIVE #1 on October 29, 2025]

On October 29, 2025, at 1321 hours, I, Deputy Raul Santiago (227), responded to a call located at [2900 BLOCK] Gingrich Court in reference to damaged property.

Upon my arrival, I met with the complainant, [WITNESS #1], who stated his sister, [VICTIM #1], called him while she was at work stating to him that she received messages from the text app number [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [WITNESS #1] stated in the messages, [VICTIM #1] was harassed by who she believes is her ex boyfriend, Drequan Gaines.

[WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] said she was being sent photos of her residence and even text messages saying she and her kids were not safe anywhere. [WITNESS #1] stated the unknown subject then text [VICTIM #1] “those were warning shots Ln. Next time we sending 50+ thru that bit*h, on blood!!! Check your backyard if you think we lying”.

[WITNESS #1] stated he then went to check the residence for [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated he when he arrived to the residence, he went to the back yard of the found the back window had been damaged. [WITNESS #1] stated the window had a small round hole that appeared as if it had been shot. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] also received harassing messages on 10/28/2025.

I observed the damage to the listed items where it appeared to be by one single gun shot. I then canvassed the area and was able to find a 223 MON REM casing in the middle of the back yard of the residence. I collected the casing and turned it into the 400 Walton Way evidence locker #2 under property receipt number 549166. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] will not stay at the residence until the issue is resolved. I attached screen shots of the messages to the report.

[WITNESS #1] was given information on safe homes to give to [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] was given a RCSO case number and he was explained how to get a copy of the report.

[NARRATIVE #2 on October 30, 2025]

On 10/30/2025 at 0454 hours, Deputy Cameron Brownlee/330 responded to [2900 BLOCK] Shelby Drive in reference to a domestic not on scene.

Upon arrival, Deputy Brownlee met with [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED], who stated that before Deputy Brownlee arrived, the house had been shot. Deputy Brownlee began asking who would have shot up the house. [VICTIM #1] stated it may have been her ex-boyfriend, Drequan Gaines, who had been harassing her and calling her all morning from 3:30 to 4:40.

Deputy Brownlee began canvassing the house to look for any entry points to the front of the house, and while standing in the front, [VICTIM #1] saw a suspicious vehicle driving slowly down Shelby Drive and turned off. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had seen that exact vehicle on her doorbell camera at her house. Still, she said that she was spending the night at [REDACTED]’ house due to her house getting shot up the day before.

As Deputy Brownlee is still looking for entry holes in the front of the house, the car stops in the middle of the road, and Deputy Brownlee begins walking and approaching the black Chevrolet. But as the car speeds off, Deputy Brownlee notices a black male, unknown, in the driver’s seat. Deputy Brownlee began running to his vehicle to catch up to the Chevrolet, but lost sight of it as it turned onto Lumpkin Road towards Richmond Hill.

Deputy Brownlee returns to the house and walks to the back of the house, where he notices four entry bullet holes going into the back room. Deputy Brownlee enters the house and heads to the back room to gather the fragments. Deputy Brownlee notified Cpl Andrew Brooks/C33 and CID Sgt. Stephen Brown/B80.

As CID finished talking with the party involved, a black Chevrolet vehicle crept up the street, turned off, came back a few seconds later at the stop sign at Shelby Dr and Hummingbird Lane, and pulled out. Deputy Brownlee gets in his patrol vehicle and catches up to the car, which stops in the middle of the road on Shelby Drive.

Deputy Brownlee initiates a traffic stop on the car for a non-working tag light. Inside the vehicle is Drequan Gaines, in the passenger seat, who was detained and taken to 400 Walton Way, and the driver, [WITNESS #2], who was also taken to 400 Walton Way for investigation.

Deputy Brownlee turned the call over to CID for further investigation. A case card was issued.

[NARRATIVE #4 on October 30, 2025]

On Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at approximately 1151 hours, Investigator Sergeant Stephen Brown, Investigator Johnathan Mathis, Investigator Mark Pettite, and Investigator Tanner Baughman conducted a consensual search of the residence of [WITNESS #2], located at [2500 BLOCK] Rhodes Drive, Augusta, Georgia 30906, in reference to an Aggravated Assault that had just occurred.

Investigators learned that [WITNESS #2] was currently dating the suspect in a shooting that occurred at a nearby residence on Shelby Drive. The suspect was identified as Drequan Gaines, and it was learned that he returned to [WITNESS #2]’s residence immediately after the shooting.

Investigators arrested Drequan Gaines and learned that he had recently been released from prison, after which, he was staying with [WITNESS #2] periodically at [2500 BLOCK] Rhodes Drive. During the Investigation, [WITNESS #2] gave Investigators written permission to search her residence at [2500 BLOCK] Rhodes Drive for any Firearms, Ammunition or Firearm-related objects.

During the search of the residence, Sergeant Stephen Brown located a backpack in the closet of the Master bedroom where [WITNESS #2] sleeps. Sgt. Brown observed multiple plastic baggies individually wrapped for sale that contained illegal narcotics. Sgt. Brown observed multiple items with Drequan Gaines’ name on them including a social security card and debit card that were in the backpack with the drugs.

Sgt. Brown later observed two plastic baggies that contained a mixture of a powder substance and colorful pills that he recognized from training and experience to be possible MDMA/Methamphetamine. Sgt. Brown later weighed each bag and observed them to weigh 6.82 grams and 9.96 grams for a total weight of 16.78 grams. Sgt. Brown later Field Tested the substances in the bags with positive results for Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

Sgt. Brown also located a bundle of plastic baggies, vacuum sealer bags and a digital scale that are consistent with the street-level sale and trafficking of narcotics. Sgt. Brown then located a large vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana beneath the backpack that contained 525 grams (1 lbs. & 2.5 oz) of marijuana. Sgt. Brown observed a large jar in the closet that contained 125 grams of marijuana for a total of 650 grams. Sgt. Brown later field tested the marijuana with Positive results for THC.

Sgt. Brown then located an orange pill bottle in a nightstand directly next to the closet that contained orange and white pills. Sgt. Brown observed the name on the bottle was for someone named [REDACTED] and the bottle was labeled as Amphetamine/Adderall XR 25mgs. Sgt. Brown observed 25 pills in the bottle.. Sgt. Brown then observed the pills were imprinted with markings that read “G AMP XR 25 mg 033”. Sgt. Brown checked the pill imprints using Drugs.com and confirmed them to be Adderall, which is a controlled substance.

Sgt. Brown then located a box in the closet and a pair of tennis shoes on the floor that contained $456.00 in U.S. Currency. Sgt. Brown observed the money was in multiple different denominations that were consistent with money obtained through the street-level sale of narcotics.

A list of all narcotics located is as follows:

  1. 25 white/orange pills / Adderall in bottle (G AMP XR 25mg 033)
  2. 125 grams of marijuana in 4 bags from a jar
  3. 525 grams of marijuana in a vacuum sealed bag
  4. 6.82 grams of MDMA/Methamphetamine/Fentanyl powder & pills in a plastic bag
  5. 9.96 grams of MDMA/Methamphetamine/Fentanyl powder & pills in a plastic bag

During the search of the residence, Investigators also located a box to a rifle believed to have been used in another shooting that occurred just the day prior. Investigators learned that Drequan Gaines also committed this shooting on October 29th, 2025, at a residence on the 2900 Block of Gingrich Court that belonged to his ex-girlfriend.

Investigators obtained messages sent by Gaines to his ex-girlfriend in which he admitted to the shooting and stated “Those were warning shots Ln. Next time we sending 50+ thru that bit*h, on blood!!”. Investigators observed this alluded to Drequan Gaines being affiliated with gang activity.

Sgt. Brown advised Inv. Baughman of the items that were located inside the residence. Through Inv. Baughman’s training and experience, he also observed that the multiple bags and different types of narcotics were consistent with the street-level sale of narcotics. Inv. Baughman observed that the amount of narcotics and the different individual bags were not consistent for personal use, but for distribution.

Investigators spoke with [WITNESS #2] after the search of the residence, and she advised that she did not know that Drequan Gaines brought these items into her residence. It was noted that Drequan Gaines had already been arrested and transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center for the earlier shooting.

Investigators then noted that [WITNESS #2] was on a jail phone call with Drequan Gaines. Investigators observed [WITNESS #2] switched the phone call to speakerphone and Drequan Gaines admitted that all of the narcotics in the residence had belonged to him. Drequan Gaines shouted over the phone that none of the illegal items in the residence belonged to [WITNESS #2].

Investigators had already spoken with Drequan Gaines at the Criminal Investigations Division prior to the search of the residence and he gave a statement. During the interview with Drequan Gaines, he admitted to being a self-proclaimed Gangster Disciple, which is a Criminal Street Gang. The illegal possession and sale of narcotics elevates Drequan Gaines’ status within the gang. The sale of narcotics also increases the gang’s influence over a community and provides funding for further illegal activities.

This incident occurred at [2500 BLOCK] Rhodes Drive, in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.
