Vehicle 1 and 2 were both traveling north in the right through lane on the 3900 block of Peach Orchard Rd just north of its intersection with Willis Foreman Rd. The Driver of Vehicle 1 stated that she thought she hit a deer in the roadway so she drove until she found a safe lighted place to pull over. She stopped in the parking lot of 3633 Peach Orchard Rd, Calvary Augusta, (over 2 miles from the scene of the crash). She stated that she called her family and then called 911 for the crash.

The Driver of Vehicle 2 could not provide a statement at the time of the crash due to her injuries.

Officers observed marks in the roadway that showed Vehicle 2 was struck while it was traveling north in the right through lane. Officers also observed a detachable blinking red light still flashing in the crash scene. Officers also observed Vehicle 2 had been struck and traveled on the front of Vehicle 1 the entire 2 miles to 3633 Peach Orchard Rd. Vehicle 2 was observed to have Christmas lights wrapped around it and some of the lights were still illuminated upon officer arrival.

Car 47 Deputy Coroner Christopher Langford responded to the crash scene and pronounced the Driver of Vehicle 2, [REDACTED], deceased at 0532 hours. The front of Vehicle 1 struck the rear of Vehicle 2. The Driver of Vehicle 1 was found at fault for the crash for following too closely.

The Driver of Vehicle 1 was arrested and committed to CBWDC for following too closely, Vehicular homicide (felony), and Leaving the scene of a crash (Felony). Body worn camera utilized. The two slip for Vehicle 1 was turned over to its driver.
