RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. – On October 14, 2024 at 11:34 pm, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2000 Block of Clark St in reference to a report of kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred there earlier in the day.
Deputies learned from the victim that the subject had forced her in the residence, tied her up, beat her, and sexually assaulted her until she was able to free herself and call for help several hours later. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators responded to the scene and contact was made with the subject, Darrell Edwards (39 yoa, Augusta, GA), who refused to exit the residence. A Search Warrant and two Arrest Warrants for Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault were obtained and on October 15, 2024 at 2:50 am, Darrell Edwards was taken into custody without incident.
