On 06-28-2026 at 1200 hours I, Corporal McCladdie, T. (C10), and Deputy Brandon Griffin (107) responded to 2260 Wrightsboro Road (Piedmont Summerville Hospital) regarding abuse and neglect.

Upon arrival, we spoke with Charge Nurse [REDACTED] and Doctor [REDACTED] regarding a three-year-old, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (juvenile), who was brought in by Sanobia Gooden (mother/suspect/arrestee). Doctor [REDACTED] and Charge Nurse [REDACTED] stated that the juvenile juvenile [REDACTED] had arrived not breathing, not taking breaths, limp, with blood around the lips, with multiple marks (scars) and a fresh scratch near his genital area upon them putting him on an intubated breathing machine and had him transported by ambulance to WellStar MCG Children’s Hospital for further medical treatment.

Charge Nurse [REDACTED] stated that Sanobia had said she was about to wash juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hair when he fell off the counter. Charge Nurse [REDACTED] stated that’s all she would tell them without giving them her name. They both stated that once juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was inside the ambulance, Sanobia had left Piedmont Summerville Hospital in an unknown vehicle behind the ambulance. I informed dispatch to get another unit en route to standby with Sanobia and AUPD to standby with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] until our arrival at WellStar MCG. Deputy Tahaj Smith (106) was with Sanobia, while AUPD was with juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at P1 Children’s Hospital at WellStar MCG when we arrived at about 1219 hours. I had Deputy Griffin go into the private room of the Children’s Hospital to stand with Deputy Smith, where Sanobia was with the WellStar MCG Chaplain.

I went to approach P1, where juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was and before I did, I had asked the nurse how he was, and she told me that juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was deceased. I viewed juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who was lying in the hospital bed, deceased, with his little face exposed, lifeless. Deputy Coroner Gresham (C49) had arrived at the Children’s Hospital along with Lieutenant Larry Thigpen (A2) and announced the time of death at 1309 hours. I went to the private room with the WellStar Chaplain to speak to Sanobia, with Deputy Smith and Deputy Griffin on standby. I had asked Sanobia to explain to me what had happened. Sanobia had told us that juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was playing and running around at [REDACTED], while eating breakfast at about 0900 hours.

Sanobia stated she was about to wash juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hair in the kitchen sink. Sanobia stated that she had picked up juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and placed him on the kitchen counter, with his head facing the kitchen sink. Sanobia stated she turned around, one hand holding juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in place, as she grabbed the shampoo from another counter behind her. Sanobia stated that at that time, she had slipped on a towel on the kitchen floor near the sink. As she was falling, she had pulled juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] down with her onto the floor, where he had hit the back of his head on the kitchen floor. Sanobia stated that she had called out to Mayhue Wimberly (suspect/arrestee) after she had picked up juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] off the kitchen floor, and at that time, he was crying and breathing as if he were congested.

Sanobia stated she had carried the juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in her arms as she went across the hall to her neighbor, [REDACTED] (last name unknown), who lives in [REDACTED]. Sanobia stated she knocked at the door and received no answer. She then knocked again, and [REDACTED]’s daughter, unknown, answered the door and asked to have [REDACTED] take her to the hospital. Sanobia stated that [REDACTED] had responded to the door and told Sanobia to let her grab her shoes, and that she would take her and the juvenile, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to the hospital. Sanobia stated that [REDACTED] had driven her unknown-make, unknown-model vehicle to Piedmont Summerville Hospital for the medical treatment of juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at an unknown time. I notified Investigator Monga (714) and Investigator Devonta Brown (707) and turned it over to them for further investigation.
