On May 1st, 2026 at 1837 hours. I Deputy Andrew Acosta (S-4 / D006) arrived in the area of Metcalf Street at Watkins Street in reference to assisting Corporal Trevor Gordon (C-2) on a traffic stop. Corporal Gordon observed a 2013 Black Mercedes Benz S550 (GA Tag: [REDACTED] / Vin: [REDACTED]) disregard a stop sign.
I arrived on scene to assist and Corporal Gordon contacted the driver later identified as Reggenan Lane (arrested). While contacting Lane, Deputy Joseph Hawkins arrived on scene with his canine partner “Roy”. Deputy Hawkins and canine “Roy” conducted an open air sniff of the listed vehicle. While conducting the open air sniff canine “Roy” alerted positively to narcotics in the vehicle.
However, Lane advised that he suffered from a spinal injury which he stated, prevented him from exiting the listed vehicle without his wheelchair. In addition, I observed Lane appear to be concealing an unknown item underneath his legs. I also observed Lane to be exhibiting signs of nervousness (heavy breathing, and heavy sweating along his temples). Lane stated that his wheelchair was located at [1900 BLOCK] Broad Street.
Corporal Eric Varner then traveled to the above listed location in order to retrieve the wheelchair from the listed residence. Shortly after Corporal Varner arrived on scene with Lane’s wheelchair. Corporal Gordon then instructed Lane to slide his body outside of the vehicle. While sliding his body I observed Lane to appear to continue concealing an unknown item underneath his legs by pressing the lower portion of his body into the driver’s seat of the listed vehicle.
Upon having Lane exit the vehicle. Deputies observed a silver handgun later identified as a Davis Industries .380 caliber handgun (s/n: AP211330 // one .380 round) fall onto the ground in the proximity of Lane. Deputy Dunbar then secured the listed firearm, and later contacted Records [REDACTED] to verify the firearm and conduct a criminal history check on Lane. Records division clerk advised that the listed firearm had no record. [REDACTED] further advised that Lane received a felony conviction for Possession of Cocaine in the superior court of Broward County, Florida on April 19th, 2002.
I then read Lane his Miranda Warning. Lane refused to make a statement.
Due to Lane being in possession of the listed firearm and also being convicted of the aforementioned felony. Lane was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additionally, Lane received other traffic, and DUI related charges completed by Corporal Gordon.
Lane was then searched and transported to the CBWDC for the listed charges by Corporal Gordon.
The criminal history was faxed to the warrants office by Records [REDACTED].
The listed firearm was collected under property receipt number: 554848 and turned into the property locker at 400 Walton Way.
