On February 14, 2026, at 0406 hours I Deputy Cameryn Cook and Deputy Tyler Holland were dispatched to [1500 BLOCK] Fifteenth St Apt [REDACTED] in reference to a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, I observed Investigator Hoskins (738) in the breeze way out front of apartment [REDACTED] with a male (Rodney Ryans) who had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left foot area. I made contact with the victim, [VICTIM #1] who stated that she and Ryans had gotten into a physical altercation in the living room. [VICTIM #1] stated when the altercation digressed, she and Ryan separated and she sat down at the kitchen island.
[VICTIM #1] stated that Ryans went into the front bedroom and emerged with a gun, pointing it at her stating “I will shoot you in the fu*king face”. [VICTIM #1] stated that she observed that Ryans squeezed the trigger to the firearm while pointing it at her but there was a malfunction with the firearm so while Ryans was attempting to fix the malfunction. [VICTIM #1] stated Ryans had the firearm pointing at the ground and it went off, causing a gunshot wound to his left foot area.
[VICTIM #1] stated that Ryans put the gun on the island and then fell to the ground so she grabbed the black Smith & Wesson 38 special revolver (S/N-221041) and put it in a drawer in the bathroom due to her kids being in the residence. Central EMS med unit 19 arrived on scene and rendered aid. Ryan’s was then escorted to Wellstar Hospital (1120 Fifteenth St.)
Investigator Walker (702), Mathis (706), Sizemore (717), and Investigator Sgt Brown (B-80) arrived on scene so the investigation was turned over to CID. The firearm was turned over to Sergeant Brown.
