Upon arrival at the scene, I, Deputy Heyward (#3053), responded to a report of a person armed at [2600 BLOCK] Fieldstone View Lane. Upon making contact with the complainant, [VICTIM #1], she reported that her ex-boyfriend, DeAngelo Kilpatrick, had physically assaulted her by striking her in the head with a firearm (pistol-whipping) in the presence of her three-year-old child, [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

When I arrived, I observed [VICTIM #1] bleeding from her wrist, shoulder, and the temple of her head. She appeared visibly upset and emotional, due to the severity of the altercation. After emergency medical technicians treated [VICTIM #1], they confirmed she only sustained superficial injuries, and nothing related to a gunshot wounds

[VICTIM #1] stated that she and DeAngelo broke up the previous night and that he left the residence. She was unsure of his current location but believed he was nearby-possibly two houses down. [VICTIM #1] also reported that DeAngelo keeps returning to the property, causing disturbances and creating ongoing tension.

At the time of the incident, [VICTIM #1] was preparing to leave the residence with the children to attend a fireworks celebration. According to her, the altercation began when she asked DeAngelo to use a lawn chair, which escalated into a verbal and then physical confrontation.

Deputy Johnson arrived on the scene and conducted an additional interview. [VICTIM #1] informed Deputy Johnson that DeAngelo had returned to the residence to retrieve another bag of his belongings. When she refused to allow him to enter, the situation turned violent.

During my investigation, I spoke with [VICTIM #1]’s friend, [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated she only partially witnessed the altercation but reported hearing what she believed to be a gunshot during the incident. She was vague in her account and unable to provide detailed observations but did confirm that she was able to grab [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and run inside [VICTIM #1]’s residence for safety. No shell casing were located during my investigation at the incident location.

I also interviewed a neighbor, [WITNESS #2], who stated that she observed the majority of the altercation. [WITNESS #2] reported that [VICTIM #1] initiated the confrontation and attempted to grab DeAngelo’s firearm. According to [WITNESS #2], [VICTIM #1]’s actions contributed significantly to escalating the situation into a physical conflict.

Based on the totality of circumstances, including statements from multiple witnesses and visible injuries to the victim, DeAngelo Kilpatrick was identified as the primary aggressor. He will be charged under the following Georgia Criminal Codes:

OCGA 16-5-21: Aggravated Assault
OCGA 16-5-70: Cruelty to Children
OCGA 16-5-23.1: Battery

DeAngelo Kilpatrick fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Warrants will be obtained for his arrest, and this case remains under further investigation.
