On February 23, 2025, I, Deputy Martinez, was dispatched to an assault call at [2800 BLOCK] Country Brook Court. Upon arrival, I met with [WITNESS #1] outside of the residence. He explained that his son was inside and bleeding badly from the head. Upon entering the home, I observed his son, Michael Austin Morris, on the floor with a pool of blood around his head. He had a large laceration on the top of his head that was bleeding profusely.

Michael Austin Morris stated he was returning from his mother’s residence, [REDACTED], at [700 BLOCK] Colt Ln. when he was attacked by four to five individuals. He did not know the identities of these individuals but mentioned that his cousin, [WITNESS #2], was familiar with them and could potentially identify them. He stated that during the attack, one of the assailants pulled out a knife, but he was able to take the knife and use it to inflict injury on one of his attackers. He also mentioned being struck in the head with a firearm, possibly a .45 caliber pistol. He was able to recall that one of the suspects was a Black male, approximately 5’10”, with a stocky build, wearing a black hoodie. Michael Austin Morris was transported by EMS to Grady Hospital for treatment.

[WITNESS #3], a resident of [2800 BLOCK] Country Brook Court, stated that [WITNESS #1] and Michael Austin Morris were at her home earlier that day for a baby shower. She reported that [WITNESS #1] fell asleep on her couch, and around 12:30-1:00 AM, Michael Austin Morris said he was stepping out and asked if they could leave the door unlocked for him. She went to bed, and around 1:00 AM, she was awakened by banging on the door and Michael Austin Morris yelling for his father before collapsing on the floor. At that point, [WITNESS #1] attempted to assist his son and called 911.

[WITNESS #4], another individual at the residence, stated that he had met Michael Austin Morris and his father for the first time that evening during the baby shower. He confirmed that Michael Austin Morris had stepped out earlier and returned shortly after 1:00 AM, yelling for his father. Upon seeing him, he observed that he was bleeding heavily from the head. He heard Michael Austin Morris state that he had been pistol-whipped.

Myself, Sgt. Thomas, Cpl. Dunn, Deputy Reid, and Deputy Lockhart responded to [700 BLOCK] Colt Ln. in an attempt to make contact with any individuals at the residence. However, there was no response at the door. CID was notified and called in to conduct further investigation. Michael Austin Morris is receiving medical care for his injuries. Further action will be taken based on investigative findings.
