On [FEBRUARY] 27, 2025, I, Deputy Martinez, was dispatched to an assisted motorist call at [2800 BLOCK] Union Grove. The call was later updated to a hit-and-run. Upon arrival, I located a black Chevrolet Impala unoccupied in front of [2800 BLOCK] Rockbridge Rd. Further inspection revealed damage to the mailboxes at [2800 BLOCK] and [2800 BLOCK] Rockbridge Rd.
I requested dispatch to contact the registered owner of the vehicle, identified as Onjoki Amber Singer, and have her meet me at the scene. Dispatch was able to reach Ms. Singer, who stated that she had been in an accident but refused to meet with me. She also informed dispatch that she had a wrecker en route for the vehicle. Ms. Singer was advised that if she did not come to the scene, her vehicle would be towed.
I then made contact with the resident at [2800 BLOCK] Rockbridge Rd, [VICTIM #1], who stated that she had heard the accident and later reviewed her Ring doorbell camera footage. The footage showed an individual picking up items near the mailbox. Ms. [VICTIM #1] initially assumed the person would come to speak with her, but no one ever approached her door. She provided me with the video footage as well as an estimate for the damage to her mailbox.
I proceeded to [2800 BLOCK] Rockbridge Rd and spoke with the resident, Ms. [VICTIM #2], who stated that she had been asleep at the time of the incident and did not hear anything occur. I informed Ms. [VICTIM #2] that her mailbox had been damaged in the crash. I asked if she could provide an estimate for repairs in case any additional damage was discovered and provided her with a case number for reference.
To determine the vehicle’s path before the crash, I walked along Rockbridge Rd toward Union Grove Rd. Initially, it was unclear where the vehicle had come from, but I observed skid marks leading through the yard of [2800 BLOCK] Rockbridge Rd, the residence of Mr. [VICTIM #3]. Based on the tire tracks and property damage, it appeared that the vehicle had traveled directly from Union Grove Rd before striking the mailboxes. Mr. [VICTIM #3] stated that he had a security camera facing the intersection of Union Grove and Rockbridge Rd and would provide the footage once he was able to obtain it.
On the following day, Ms. Singer contacted the sheriff’s office inquiring about the location of her vehicle. When I spoke with her, I asked why she had left the scene. She stated that after the crash, she had friends pick her up and left the area without notifying the property owners. She explained that she had been driving home on Union Grove Rd when a group of deer’s ran into the roadway, causing her to swerve and hit the mailboxes. However, the skid marks and damage to Mr. [VICTIM #3]’s property confirmed that the vehicle had traveled directly from Union Grove Rd before the collision.
Warrants will be taken out on Ms. Singer for Leaving the scene of an accident (O.C.G.A 40-6-270), And Striking a fixed object (O.C.G.A 40-6-273)
[End of Narrative]
