On November 6, 2025, I, Deputy Eafford, responded to a 911 hang-up call at [2100 BLOCK] Green Way Circle at approximately 10:22 PM. Upon my arrival, Deputy Acevado and I approached the front door, which was answered by Mr. Rahson Evans. Mr. Evans stated that we had just been at the residence. I explained that this was my second time responding to the location that night, and he acknowledged that he remembered my earlier visit.
Prior to responding to the 911 hang-up call at 10:22 PM, I, Deputy Eafford, had already responded to a 911 call at the same residence, where I made contact with Mr. Evans. He stated that everything was fine. I asked him about the female’s whereabouts, and he responded that she was in the bathroom. When I inquired if she was okay, he assured me that she was.
Deputy Acevado then asked Mr. Evans, “What’s going on?” to which he replied that nothing had happened and no crime had been committed. I asked Mr. Evans to step outside the residence so that Deputy Acevado and I could gather more information. He stepped outside but attempted to close the door. I instructed him to keep the door open.
Deputy Acevado inquired about who else was inside the residence the first time we were there. As I repeated my questions, Mr. Evans looked down at his phone, which was ringing due to incoming calls. Deputy Acevado asked Mr. Evans who Selena was, and he answered that she was his girlfriend. I then called into the residence, “Ms. Selena, where are you?” but received no response and no longer heard any movement.
During our conversation with Mr. Evans, Ms. Selena continued to call his phone. Deputy Acevado requested that Mr. Evans call Ms. Sutton downstairs so we could see her and ensure she was safe. Mr. Evans’s behavior appeared strange, as if he might be hiding something, and he repeatedly insisted that no crime had occurred.
Sgt. Vandelisle asked Mr. Evans to call Ms. Sutton on the phone so we could confirm her well-being by hearing her voice. A female answered the phone who Mr. Evans identified as Ms. Sutton. She was irate, alternating between yelling and crying. We continued to ask her to come downstairs to check on her condition, but she refused, and both parties insisted no crime had taken place.
As the door remained open, per my earlier instruction, Sgt. Vandelisle advised Deputy Martinez and me to enter the residence due to the behavior of both individuals. Deputy Martinez and I began clearing the residence in an attempt to locate Ms. Sutton. We encountered a locked door on the second level, on the left-hand side. I asked Mr. Evans if she was in that room, but he wouldn’t answer. I then requested permission from Sgt. Vandelisle to break into the locked door to clear that room, which she granted.
While clearing the residence, we could not locate Ms. Sutton but noticed signs of an obvious struggle in the kitchen, including broken glass and spilled liquor on the floor. While speaking with Mr. Evans, he continued to withhold information, so I informed him that he could potentially be charged with obstruction of justice. He maintained that he didn’t know where she was and that the broken glass was from a previous incident.
I then detained Mr. Evans and had Deputy McFarland stand by with him while I checked another room in the residence. Deputy Harden notified us via radio that he could hear movement in the backyard, specifically in the wooded area. I ran outside through the back door and proceeded to the backyard, where Deputy Harden indicated her last known whereabouts were. Deputy Acevado then initiated a K-9 search for Ms. Sutton.
Sgt. Vandelisle instructed Deputy Martinez and Deputy Harden to patrol the area to see if they could make contact. Ms. Sutton was located by Deputies Martinez and Harden, but she fled on foot into the woods. As the search continued, Deputy Acevado, Deputy Heyward, and I moved to the front of the neighborhood. While checking the wooded area to our left, we spotted Ms. Sutton lying face down in the grass. As soon as she saw us, she began to run, and we shouted for her to stop.
Ms. Sutton was subsequently found by K-9 Lucy, lying face down in the grass, and was detained without further incident. Deputy Heyward and I informed dispatch that we had Ms. Sutton and Mr. Evans in custody. They were later transported to the county jail. Mr. Evans will be charged with obstruction (x2), while Ms. Sutton is facing charges of abuse of 911, obstruction, and violating a civil family violence order.
Mr. Evans didn’t have any visible marks or bruises located on his persons. Ms. Sutton had multiple abrasions located on her right knee, and left big toe area.
