On February 5, 2025, at approximately 10:22PM I Deputy Isaac #2235 was dispatched to I-20 EB mile marker 78 in reference to a Hit & Run. The Passerby who contacted 911 stated that one of the drivers involved in the vehicle crash was throwing away beer bottles from his vehicle. The passerby also stated that they can see that same driver attempting to jump the median wall to escape. Upon arrival I met with [VICTIM #1] who was the driver of a white Tahoe [REDACTED] that was involved in the vehicle crash. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was driving in the fast lane when a vehicle to his right came and crashed into him causing him to hit the median. That vehicle was a gray Cadillac Escalade driven by Willie Robinson.
The second vehicle involved in this vehicle crash is a gray Cadillac Escalade [REDACTED] that was totaled and left on I-20 EB abandoned. This vehicle returned to Willie Robinson who reside at [3500 BLOCK] Cherry Creek Ct Conyers GA. Deputy Turner 2950 who was also on scene attempted to make contact with the registered owner at the address listed above. When Deputy Turner arrived, no one answered the door, but Deputy Turner made contact with Willie through the ring camera. Willie told Deputy Turner through the ring camera that his nephew [REDACTED] was driving his vehicle and that his nephew called him to say he was in a wreck. Willie stated that he was enroute to the area to pick his nephew up and that he was going to turn him in at the sheriff office.
Moments later dispatch advised deputies that a citizen just called in a suspicious person in the area of [800 BLOCK] Smyrna Rd which is next to I-20. This citizen stated that a black male knocked on the door asking for a ride. Deputies responded to the area and made contact with Willie at [800 BLOCK] Smyrna Rd. Willie stated that his nephew contacted him and stated that he was at this address. I noticed that Willie did not have a vehicle with him. Willie stated that his girlfriend dropped him off in this area to look for his nephew and then she left. I asked Willie how he was supposed to get back home and he could not answer. It was apparent that Willie was not telling the truth. Willie clothes were damp, and I could smell the odor of a alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
I came to the conclusion that Willie was in fact the driver of the vehicle involved in the Hit & Run. Willie was placed in custody and transported to the Rockdale County Jail by Deputy Banks. During transport to the hospital Willie threatened officers and was very combative. Before leaving the hospital two crack rocks were found in the back seat of Deputy Banks patrol vehicle where Willie was sitting.
After being cleared by hospital staff Willie was transported to the Rockdale County Jail without incident.
