On 2/06/2026 I, Deputy Whitmer responded in Non Emergency Mode to [500 BLOCK] Chuli Rd due to a Welfare Check of a 9 year old juvenile. Dispatch advised that the juvenile had tested his father stating he was left home alone and had not had anything to eat.

I arrived on scene and located the juvenile standing on the front porch, for the purposes of this report this Juvenile will be referred as Juvenile 1 or (J1). I asked (J1) where his mother was and he stated “In her room passed out.” I asked (J1) if he had sent a message to his father. He stated yes. The front door of the residence was open and I asked (J1) to show me where his mom was. (J1) entered into the residence and pointed to a room immediately to the left.

I located Anna Bennett asleep in the bedroom. I announced myself and asked her to get up. She immediately stated “Who let you in.” I informed her that we had a welfare check called in on her son and he was located on the porch. Anna got out of the bed and stepped outside on the porch. I asked Anna where she was last night and she stated “I was at home.” I asked her where her son was last night and she stated ” He stayed at the neighbors.” I asked her what the neighbors names were and what was their address. She stated “[WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2], I don’t know the address but stated it was the trailer next door.” I asked her if I went and asked the neighbors would they say (J1) was with them last night. She stated “Yes.”

I went to [400 BLOCK] Chuli Rd and spoke with [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2]. They both stated that when they got home around 1700 hours both (J1) and (J2- 15 yrs old) (both sons of Anna) were at their home. They stated that both Juveniles stated that their mom had left them at the house. They also stated that (J1) asked if he could have something to eat because he hadn’t eaten. They stated that (J1) was given a plate of spaghetti and he ate it as if he hadn’t eaten in awhile. They stated that (J1) never eats spaghetti and has stated multiple times he doesn’t like it. They stated that both Juveniles are constantly left at the residence by Anna.

They stated that (J2) is very good friends with their oldest son, so he is over at the house alot. They stated that Anna calls (J2) and tells him he needs to watch (J1) and leaves for extended periods of time. I asked both subjects if Anna informed them, asked them if the two juveniles could stay with them. They both stated “No.” They both stated Anna never asks or makes sure they are home, the juveniles just show up and they make sure they are ok because they know how little the kids have.

I went and spoke with [WITNESS #3] (Father of both juveniles). He showed me a text message from (J1) asking if he could have something to eat because his mom hasn’t been home and has not eaten anything except for a small plate of spaghetti. [WITNESS #3] stated that he suspected Anna was using Methamphetamines and would abandoned the kids continously.

I went back and advised Anna of her rights and she agreed to speak freely. I asked Anna what time she left the house last date. She stated around 1700 hours. I asked her if both juveniles were at the house when she left and she stated “Yes.” Anna informed me that she has not had running water at the residence in several days. I asked Anna why (J1) didn’t go to school and she stated she didn’t wake up for him to get on the bus. It should be noted that (J2) was currently in school at this time.

I placed Anne under arrest. I handcuffed her hands behind her back, checked for fit and double locked them.

(J1) was turned over to [WITNESS #3]. [WITNESS #3] informed he would go get (J2) from school. I advised [WITNESS #3] I would be filing a complaint with DFACS and he should be receiving a call from them.

Deputy Chandler transported Anna to the Spalding County Jail.

A DFACS REFERRAL WAS COMPLETED FOR THIS CASE

I obtained Warrants for the following all under the Family Violence Act:
