On December 27, 2024, Sergeant (Sgt.) Sam Jones of the City of Griffin Police Department responded in a non-emergency manner to Appleton Apartments, located within the city limits of Griffin, GA at [1100 BLOCK] W. Poplar St. in reference to a complaint of tires being slashed on the premisses.

Upon arrival to the location, Sgt. Jones activated his departmental issued body worn camera (BWC) and made contact with [VICTIM #1], RACE; Black, SEX; Male, DOB; [REDACTED BY AGENCY]1981, SSN#; [REDACTED BY AGENCY], GEORGIA OLN; [REDACTED BY AGENCY], ADDRESS; [1100 BLOCK] W Poplar St. Apt. [REDACTED], Griffin, GA 30223 who stated that his ex-girlfriend Ashley Nicole CARPENTER, RACE; Black, SEX; Female, DOB; [REDACTED BY AGENCY]1985, GEORGIA OLN; [REDACTED BY AGENCY], ADDRESS; [2300 BLOCK] Brianna Dr., Hampton, GA 30228 came to his residence and shot out the tires on his 2007 Jeep Wrangler bearing Georgia registration [REDACTED] that was parked in the parking lot.

Sgt. Jones spoke with CARPENTER, who was on scene and very upset stated that she came to [VICTIM #1]’S residence after learning that he was involved with another woman who was married and became very irate. CARPENTER by her own admission stated that she shot out three of the tires on the vehicle. Sgt. Jones asked CARPENTER where the gun was that she used and she surrendered a JIMINEZ ARMS, MODEL# J-A T380, Semi-Automatic Pistol, bearing serial number 1527915 to Sgt. Jones. CARPENTER stated that the pistol was hers. Sgt. Jones checked the pistol to verify if it was stolen and the pistol was not stolen. Sgt. Jones provided [VICTIM #1] with an incident number.

Sgt. Jones placed CARPENTER under arrest, placed her in handcuffs and ensured proper fit, and transported her to the Spalding County Detention Center for processing. Sgt. Jones returned to Griffin PD Headquaters and processed the pistol into evidence TAG # 57313, Control #; 2069595 and relinquished the pistol to the City of Griffin Evidence Custodian by placing it and securing it in locker #4.

Sgt. Jones will be seeking warrants against CARPENTER for Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree OCGA 16-7-23(a)(1) and Disorderly Conduct Property OCGA 16-11-39(a)(2).
