[NARRATIVE #1 on May 20, 2023]

On May 20, 2023 at approximately 09:26 hours I was dispatched to 2897 North Expressway, Griffin, GA, 30223 in reference to a welfare check. I responded in non-emergency mode.

Prior to my arrival, I was notified that a child was left alone inside a vehicle while the mother was inside the dollar general shopping. When I pulled up to the Dollar General I observed the red Dodge Neon SXT displaying GA-Tag: [REDACTED] leaving the parking lot. As a result I initiated my emergency equipment to conduct a investigative stop.

Upon introducing myself to the driver later identified as Ms. Candlaira Criswell (DOB:/2003) notifying her the reason for the stop. I was able to observe her child was in good health but gathered Ms. Criswell’s information. Due to the child being in good health at the time and me being able to gather her information she was released at the time so I could further investigate the incident.

When I went to take a look at the video footage at the Dollar General it was discovered she left her child in the vehicle for approximately 7 to 8 minutes unattended. Due to the age of the child being under the age of 3 it was determined that she endangered the child being left alone unable to fend for himself. I attempted to make contact with Ms. Criswell multiple times even going to her home address in an attempt to place her in custody without success.

As a result, a warrant was taken out for Ms. Criswell for Reckless Conduct and was issued by Judge MacDowell (Warrant#23-EW-002785). Once I am able to verify the Childs name a DFACs referral will be completed.

[NARRATIVE #2 on July 17, 2023]

On 7/17/23 I Deputy Roberts responded to [1500 BLOCK] Patterson Rd lot [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic.

Prior to my arrival, the second half had left the residence. I made contact with Candlairia Criswell (w/f dob:/03) who advised her ex was moving out and they began arguing. Prior to my arrival I was informed by dispatch that Criswell had an active warrant.

I placed Criswell in handcuffs behind her back, checked for fit and double locked. Criswell stated she was aware she had a warrant. Spalding dispatch confirmed the warrant for Reckless Conduct (WN#23-EW-002785). I checked Criswell’s person and my back seat for contraband and illegal weapons but none were found.

I placed Criswell in the back seat of patrol car and transported her to the Spalding County Detention Center without incident. Criswell was turned over to jail staff.
