On Friday February 14, 2025 at approximately 1422 hours while on shift at Griffin high school (1617 W Poplar St), I responded to radio traffic requesting assistance in the Gym.
Upon my arrival, I mad contact with coach [WITNESS #1] who stated that a student (Christopher Dennis) refused to leave the gym. Dennis was asked to leave the gym by staff and administration and refused. Dennis also began using profanities towards staff and towards me.
I requested Dennis to get up and leave the gym. Dennis then stated,” if you put your hands on me, I will beat your a*s,”. Another student told Dennis to knock it off and just leave. Dennis then stated,” I’m blood I will kill him if he touches me, on god,”. I took a step back and Dennis got up and began to leave the gym.
When I advised what door to exit out of Dennis turned around and said, “I’m not leaving from that door because you said too,”. Dennis then pushed me. I grabbed Dennis with both hands and used a leg sweep to guide Dennis to the ground and told him to place his hands behind his back. He actively resisted, but I was able to restrain him.
Dennis was placed in handcuffs behind his back double locked and checked for fit. Dennis was placed in an assisting officer’s patrol unit and was transported to Spalding County jail where he was turned over to jail staff. Warrants will be taken out on Dennis next date. No injuries were reported.
Warrants were obtained on 02/15/2025.
