On August 16, 2023 I, Deputy Mann responded non emergency to [600 BLOCK] Northside Dr., Apt [REDACTED] in reference to shots fired.

While checking the area an unidentified black female waved me down an stated, whatever happened started at Apt# [REDACTED]. She stated, she did hear gun shots but wanted to stay anonymous.

[VICTIM #1] (b/m/1980) approached me and stated, he was shot at by a white man who was dating one of the females staying in his apartment [REDACTED]. He stated, they were arguing then he seen the man pull a gun out and fired two shots towards him. He stated, he doesn’t know the guy’s name nor did he really know the females like that due to them just moving in good. [VICTIM #1] stated, his girlfriend [WITNESS #1]’s kids were on the couch in the living room when this happened.

I then spoke with [WITNESS #2] (w/f /2004) who stated, [VICTIM #1] came in her room while she was trying to sleep, and had a seat on the clothes bin. She stated, he started telling her how much he liked her and wanted to have sex with her.

While he was in the room she message [WITNESS #3] (twin sister) and told her to come back to the apartment due to her being scared. After [WITNESS #3] and [WITNESS #1] returned she asked if Cohen Husley (w/m /2004 [WITNESS #2] boyfriend) can come over which [WITNESS #1] said yes he could. She stated, Cohen is very protected of her and when she told him he wanted to come and make sure she was okay.

[WITNESS #2] stated, when Cohen got there [VICTIM #1] met her at the door trying to figure out who it was there while holding a baseball bat. She stated, she open the door and at that time Cohen and [VICTIM #1] started having a verbal argument which started to turn physical but she told them to go outside. She stated she didn’t hear any gun shots once the argument went outside, but seen [VICTIM #1] run in the house saying that he was just shot at while on the porch. [WITNESS #2] stated, she went outside but didn’t see any showing there was a shooting.

I spoke with [WITNESS #3] who stated, she was in the back room when the altercation happened, but she never heard a gun shot only heard [VICTIM #1] say call 911 he shot at me. She stated, she called 911 earlier due to [VICTIM #1] walking around the house with a bat, but when she called her phone died. Which was a 911 hang up call we had before this incident.

I spoke with [WITNESS #1] who stated, she was out of town checking on her mother. She also stated, everything was fine when she left not even an hour and a half before the call came out. She stated, Cohen was supposed to left with [WITNESS #2], [VICTIM #1] should have left and went to his mother’s house, so only [WITNESS #3] and her kids ().

I did notice damage to the door of [REDACTED] which was from bullets, one went through the door and half way through the sheet rock. While the other one hit the wooden post on the stair well and got stuck in the door. Photographs were taken of the damage.

Cohen Husley was not on scene upon my arrival.

Investigations and Crime scene was notified and upon there arrival the scene was turned over to them.
